Prince is the kig of shitty font choices and even worse album covers.

Agree. The artwork looks terrific. That artist must be really proud, Prince used her artwork on several occasions before.

The font is an improvement over the terrible fonts he´s used in the last two decades but still does not come close to the great fonts he used for albums like Parade, Diamonds and Pearls or Sign of the Times.

The actual image is a painint Prince purchased from a Fan I think? I cannot remember her name. though but he's used it on some of his clothing and at some of the shows on the background images.

how do you know whats financially beneficial or not.

I think the fact they spent hardly anything on promoting the albums shows they didnt expect a good turnover and the low numbers sold, after paying Prince, Distribution and everything else their actual profit was likely minimal and barely worth the effort if they compared it to other artists on the label. Especially since Prince owned the Licensing rights too.
