How did I sleep on this one??!! The star twinkles to start the song off...before dropping the SLOW, deep Hip Hop drums with his gospel-funk voices then singing funkily, "We fought in your wars...in every land, to keep this country free y'all...women, children, and man But every time we asked for pay or a loan that's when everything seemed to turn wrong" then electric guitar with the chorus... but it's his VOCALS, lead and back on this track that are so damn FUNKY!!! Then adds a badass electric guitar solo@@@!!! Dude, did anyone else sleep on this gospel-choir chorus, passionate to the bone funk voice!!! How did I miss this?!! How is it not on any one of his albums??!

I find the Staple's version incredibly poignant, and his version is great but it sounds way better now that it's not so associated with equating his struggle to be paid. Just a damn good song that reverberates about injustice.
