It's tough Being a Prince fan

I've been a fan for almost 31 years.
I would have to say that he hasn't done anything groundbreaking in a very long
Time.. Since the WB deal of April 2014,Still hasn't put any Remasters out.
He's not good to his fans at all.
"Purple Rain" should've gotten that 30th yr royal treatment last year.
He's full of shit about not looking back into his past.. Prince does greatest hits shows live..
The guy is a shell of himself.. I only want to hear his vast catalog of unreleased songs. The new releases since 2004 have been okay to simply dreadful.

I just want those remasters from his classic 1980 to 88 period.. Of course every single unreleased from that Era.

You guys are dead on.. Everything Prince does is amazing..
he's as relevant as ever & on top of his game..
By the way his last top 10 hit single was in 1994..
You guys are probably the same knuckle heads who love the "come" album &
"Chaos & Disorder".
Prince wouldn't be a legend without 1980 to 88..
Byran Adams is celebrating 30th yr of his
"Reckless" CD.. That is how u treat your longtime fans.

Prince doesn't care about his fans or his career.
Album after Album falls off the charts within 5 days.

Very little or no promotion..
He lied to his fans about releasing all of his vault material over & over again.
Prince will never make a great album of new material ever again..
Plus he lost his mind becoming a Jw in 1998..
Not normal not celebrating birthdays or holidays..
When he does interviews talks in riddles.
Then gets caught up in all of this Freddie Gray situation.
Can u focus on being somewhat relevant again?
Prince doesn't care

he's won a few awards after 94,plus the massive sales from the musicology tour and 21 nights tour .Plus he put on the best superbowl half time show ever .Lots of artists look up to and respect Prince .He's still making great music .You sure you aren't in denial and living in your good days ?(1980-1988)

Its easy being a Prince fan, he's FASCINATING.

Who the hell wants Prince to act like everyone else? Not me.

Prince is my hero of 'be so amazing you can do whatever the F you want, and make people pay you for it' .

Prince doesn't care

well thats actually true,

most of us needs to have the Warner remasters 1978-1988, but Prince doesn't care because he wants to be paid lots and lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ - and noone will pay him millions for any release anymore - simply because no release from him sells more that a few 100.000's )

Remasters should have been released long time ago - but they might not happen in our lifetime, and that's so sad to be honest. sad

Quotes from rusty1 on being a Prince fan:
"Prince doesn't care about his fans..."
"he (Prince) lost his mind.."
"Prince doesn't care."
"he's(Prince) full of shit..."
"the guy is a shell of himself..."
-
That doesn't sound like a fan talking.
-
"I only want to hear his vast catalog of unreleased songs."
"I just want those remasters from his classic 1980 - 88 period."
-
What it sounds like is a spoiled child.
I want.
I want.
I want.

Poor Rusty, lol

critizise Prince - and be critizised yourself... lol

thats usually how it works between fans....... wink

Its still a mystery and annoying about what happened to the missing remasters - I can at least agree with Rusty on that,

hell the Purple Rain 2CD remaster was announced in an article last year, wasn't it..

And. If I remember right Prince himself was even quoted in that article...?

But he couldn't deliver, couldn't keep that promise: sad sad sad

Being neglected by Prince himself is one thing, but I think it's more difficult to be a Prince fan in the society... People from my closest environment know I'm a hardcore fan of Prince and respect that. But whenever I meet new people and we start talking about our favorite musicians and I mention Prince, they are always like: 'Is he alive?' How frustrating is that....

But well, there's some sad truth to it, if Prince was more involved and into sharing his music with the world, then there would be no such questions...

That Bryan Adams box looks really classy & well done. Prince fans should be so lucky to get such a box set.

I will agree on the hypocrisy of "not looking back". Paisley Park Studios is decorated as a tribute to his past & all he does is play old songs in concert. He's fooling himself if he believes he doesn't live in the past. I guess it's a convenient statement--to seem mysterious, when his true motivation is not to pander to the wants of record companies & fans. smile

Yeah I feel the same way. As a matter of fact I have met very few other Prince fans. Nowadays it seems even more rare to meet one. But how many singers these days are going to eventually end up being legends? Not too many. Although he may not be creating or releasing his best music ever nowadays, after watching him at the Baltimore show a few days ago, it made me realize just how amazing a performer he still is. In my opinion, he is worth paying a little extra for. Well worth it.

Maybe Prince believes his past albums are FINISHED and are as good as they can be the way they are, and mentally, he's finished them and not able to be in the same headspace he was when he created them.

I dont know why people think Prince consciously is going out of his way to purposely piss off his fans. That makes no sense. I dont think he has to make decisions with fans in mind, when he's actively playing live, making music and releasing albums. He's doing his job lololol. And quite well.

Strive

He just did an hour of his concert for free and put up another 40 minutes on Soundcloud.

Only time it's tough being a Prince fan is when his people freak out and pull everything or he disappears.

And if you do meet someone who "claims" to like Prince--it seems they know nothing of his latter career work or the world of bootlegs. They certainly don't own "20Ten" or "AOA".

I think his choices have diminished what deserved to be a legacy up there with Sinatra & The Beatles. Now he's more like Sly Stone & Barry White in public awareness.

Prince would erase those tapes and overdub them with Tony M and Shelby recording remasters of those outtakes before Prince released every single unreleased outtake from 1980-1988.

I think, the key to being a Prince fan is to simply lower your expectations.Never expect him to things that are *reasonable* lol Don't expect him to do the things that most artists do,such as remastering his catalog.I know he makes us angry at times (lol) but what can we do?

Listen to what you want. Like what you like. Dislike what you dislike. Define being a "Prince fan" as it works best for you. Participate in whatever discussions here or elsewhere that you want. Ultimately, nobody gives a fuck about any of my thoughts about Prince, your thoughts about Prince, or anyone's thoughts about Prince.

I don't find it tough to be a Prince fan. It's aggravating at times, like getting all pumped up about the teamsters and then not receiving them. But none of that bullshit takes away from his classic music and the more recent albums that I love. I still listen to Prince music that makes me happy, especially all the fantastic new leaks of awesome outtakes.

TL:DR Fuck it. Who cares? Listen to some Prince.

Yeah...I don't think that's the issue....It's the fact that that's the only thing Rusty seems to bring to the table....Prince ain't above criticism...At all....

But if all people do is bitch and moan about a damn near 60 year old artist who is past his artistic prime in the recording studio it gets quite tiring....

Yeah I guess that uptown funk song is totally irrelevant nowadays. Prince had no influence whatsoever on that piece. You know, 'cause Mark Romson said it was inspired by JB and The Time but never Prince. The Time is such an artistic achievement on todays funk, they are pretty good musicians wouldn't you say? Who in the band should I turn to if I wanted to learn how to play guitar, bass, drums, keyboard or even sing? Lalalala, no Prince impact on music today.
