However I think Sineads version is more powerful than the Family version. If she hadn't of covered it, to this day the majority of the world would not have heard this song and Prince wouldn't have resurrected it.

So basically I don't think the Family version would've been a hit.

I agree... hindsight is 20-20 as they say. Still, it would be nice for there to be a good studio recording of Prince doing this song. I loved it from The Family before Sinead ever thought of recording it. (although - DESIRE has always been my favorite song from that album.)

Wasn't there a story once that Sinead visited Prince once, they argued and Prince threw her out?
