Waiting Room Is a good song. One of Prince's best collaborations.
It is better than "So Far, So Pleased", the other collab' with Gwen Stefani. I happen to think so. Do you? Discuss. ___________

I love the "Waiting Room", I wish that it would have been released as a single.

I heard the whole album in a hotel bar in San Diego recently. Everyone in the large group I was with loved the album, then it got to Waiting Room, and my friend Jen turned to me and said "What in the sweet lord is this crap?"
I didn't tell her Prince had anything to do with it.

Obviously... Not to diss on your friend, but that's such a typical "general public" response to what's one of the more musically interesting songs on that album.

Funny thing is the next day, I stopped scanning the car radio when I heard A Day In The Life by The Beatles, maybe my favorite song of all time. When it got to the extreme orchestral section mid-way through, she said 'What are we listening to?' and I started doubting my own musical tastes - that would be a topic for another thread. I've done that before listening to Prince around other people.

I think the rest of Rock Steady is WAY better than Waiting Room. The best track on that album is hands down Hella Good, now THAT'S funky.

It's okay, I'm glad they didn't release it as a single.
My personal fav off of Rock steady is "underneath it all", god, I love that song ~KiKi

Waiting room is a great song. We listen to it often, along with the rest of Rock Steady. Gwen is so sweet. I bet Prince liked her, but she was already taken by Gavin.

Yes, that's what I said. Do you need an explanation?

It's a little repetitive dontchathink ? Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Waiting room is one of the weakest songs on Rock Steady. The irony about the track though is that is seems so much more suited to Rave and So Far So Pleased would seem more at home on Rock Steady.

No, I don't think so. It is repetitive. How can you deny that? Whether you like it or not is something else, but anyone who can read music or can simply listen knows it is.

I can read music and I am a musician, dude. It has repetitive parts, but there is also development. The harmonies are interesting. I think that person was implying it was dull. It isn't, to these ears. ___________
