Which is a a better dance song "Now" or Housequake?"

I have never been a fan of Housequake. I cannot understand why so many people like it but I know everyone is different. I usually skip it when I listen to SOTT. Last night I was listening to the Gold album and thought "man this song is way funkier than Housequake, it blows it out of the water." What do you guys think?

I really like the live version of Now but neither are my among my all time faves.

Always wondered what HQ would be like without Camile.

Like most of the songs on SOTT ,the live versions were so much better and that's what people have got in their heads when they think of "Housequake".The album version was flat compared to it.

The correct answer is Erotic City.

You people are crazy...Housequake is a classic. Now is great too, but Housequake is too far above it to compare.

Add Erotic City to the equation and it trumps them all.

I'm in your camp. Was suprised as all hell it was somewhat of a mainstream hit. That said its a timeless track and unique in the Prince catalog but way better live.

"Housequake" is one of the funkiest,James Brown-inspired party jams that Prince ever did headbang

"Now" is very good, but it can't compare to "Housequake".

This. I've heard way too many comments about how "if you don't dance to this song you have no soul", "best dance song ever", etc. It may be a cool JB-inspired jam, but it's not really that danceable imo

Maybe eye do, just not like eye did before pimp2

I only listen to the excellent live version from 87. The album track in comparison is so flat and tinny (and annoying with the unnecessary Camille effect)

Now is a jam on a great album, but Housequake is a classic on a masterpiece geek.

About being able to dance to music: funk and HQ especially makes me wanna dance. But in general the more complex the beat the less people wanna dance to it. So disco and house were no coincidence. ;-)

I love housequake more because of the dance between the beat and that heavy synth bass sound!

Hand over your Prince fan card now, this opinion is in direct violation of the statutes, which clearly state :"No fan shall dislike Housequake, Erotic City, Irresistable Bitch, Adore, Purple Rain and When Doves Cry."

And who inspired P-funk? Give credit where credit's due. It's got JB written all over it.
