Is there a more underrated Prince album track than Elephants & Flowers? I was front row when he did this at Xenophobia and I never forgot it

Republicans and Spring. I understand the theme, but never got the connection to the title I recently heard an outtake with different lyrics, and it still doesn't make much more reference to it. The Xenophobia boot rules, nevertheless! "Whatever skin we're in
we all need 2 b friends" | |

In this case he is not making a metaphor to Republicans (such as in Paisley Park), I believe he is drawing contrast between opposites or varying things.
The demo arrangement is so good. I wish this existed in pro sound quality. It's superior to the released mix with tons more synth and embellishements and a more conventional voacl. I even like the lyrics better! [Edited 4/4/15 20:50pm] My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

I LOVE this track! Yes, it is definitely underrated. But there is another track from this very album I think is even better and even more underrated...Joy In Repetition.

JIR is in no way underrated. It's rated highly as far as I can tell RIP

No, no, no. The album version is absolute garbage... the lone drumbeat version is the best thing he ever did. Didn't you get the memo? . Actually, JIR is underrated. It's so good, that even the high praise it gets isn't enough.

I always thought it was kind of a fan favourite, and so it was probably quite highly rated. [Edited 4/6/15 6:52am] "Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced." - James Baldwin

Love it...but always preferred the bootleg version, where he sings about "Coco" Make it so, Number One...

Would love to hear him sing a mash up of Elephants and Flowers, and Starfish and Coffee. "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

I love Elephants & Flowers. Grafitti Bridge is an underrated album with lots of hidden gems.
The Question of U is another underrated song.

Not underrated at all, beloved by many a fan. I love his live versions of it in 2007. He played it a few times on the Live Out Loud tour in 2013? Anyone here hear it?

While what you say is true, Prince non-singles tend to be underrated by casual fans--because they don't hear them.

It is a good thing Prince never landed in jail: with his fine traits, his small posture and tasty round butt he would have made an excellent shower room victim. Prisoner to inmate Prince: "Hey you there little bitch with the long hair, pick up that bar of soap for me!" RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Perfectly stated. This is what I was trying to get across in my amazingly awkward posts above.

Back on topic: I agree that E&F is a great track. Actually there are many great Prince songs on the GB soundtrack that are underrated. It is too bad it was decided to include the sideproject songs, if it had been a pure Prince affair it could have been one of his very best albums! RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...
