I think P looked ridiculous, but this post is the funniest thing I've read on the org in a LONG time. lol

This track has always been difficult for me. If I'm honest, it doesn't quite deliver for me... yet something about it is sooo doggone charming.

I'd be interested in hearing the demo version I'm reading about here. I'm thinking with a few tweaks the song could easily be a favourite of mine.

Love it...but always preferred the bootleg version, where he sings about "Coco"

This is the jam too, with his voice all raspy cool, but all the versions are dope. Classic tune! touched

Robert Randolph's group did a killer cover of it.

Yeah...a 'don't look into his eyes' post.

It always baffled me how a dude can walk on a stage with coiffed hair, pancake, eyeliner and mascara, high heels and a lacy outfit and get the ladies panties droppin'...with a ferociousness not ofen seen. I just don't get it confuse

Might I nominate:

AVALANCHE

Not only does Prince's Patriot-baiting Piano-piece manage to right the wrong that was "Right The Wrong" it has an industry-related second verse less alienating than "Colonized Mind"'s.

still don't get why so many people love that demo version so much. i hate it with a passion.

the lyrics are so awful. it's like he's just improvising the whole first verse lol

give me the released version any day of the week, i really love that one cool

Maybe that's what they like... the idea that he's flying by the seat of his pants. Sometimes that just doesn't work though. I prefer the released version too--I suspect if the other had actually been the released version, it would not rank particularly high in people's estimation.

.

Of course, I could be wrong.

Demo one sounds cool and has a heavy, minimal, more muscular tone, from his voice to the sax. The lyrics also seem more interesting and vivid to me. The released version is like the top 40 kiddie version of a harder song complete with toy xylophone happy sounds and high pitched happy synths... not as cool!

Yep.

I think that aspect gets over looked: "Love the one who IS Love...the one that dances with power, the one who made everything....elephants and flowers. the one who will listen when all others will not...there will be love for those that love God a lot"

to me that is some deep stuff...
