Dear Prince, please take care of your legacy so the musicians of the future don't have to scrounge around for bootlegs of your badass songs.

Every young musician in the world should have easy access to Prince music and not have to go on an Indiana Jones type of expedition to unearth his (not so lost) treasures.

Has it been taken down yet? GROSS infringement of Prince's rights. These kids making a massive profit at prince's expense etc.

Guys before you judge, how do you know they haven't already paid Prince a big fat wad of cash to allow them to do this?

Think before you judge, Prince is not the bad guy he is just looking after his legacy geek

Kids suck and their sense of entitlement is beyond shocking. Thankfully P will take them to task chainsaw

Same. But I find it really cool these young dudes are working out such a deep Prince cut, and not "Let's Go Crazy", or something. cool

arent' the ones that get taken down cases where people post the prince version? It's okay to record your own version, there may be a very small fee involved to legally publicly post that performance.

Prince cant stop them from playing or posting..He is entitled to a compuylsory fee and thats it..however, one could make the claim that it was never released, it doesnt fall under the fair use provision

This video is probably Prince's worst fear realized. He doesn't want to be a bad influence on the youth. That's probably a factor in why there have been no remasters or good vault tracks released. Prince, George Lucas, Fonzie... they all turned into cornballs once the money started coming in and they realized kids were looking up to them.

How would this make him a bad influence? I'm not quite sure what you're getting at.

Not fully sure if people are being serious or sarcastic when it comes to young people being into Prince's music here but if you are being serious...

Art when it leaves your hands essentially becomes public domain and is therefore open to interpretation and reinterpretation. There are plenty of artists out there okay with others on the internet covering their songs, if the lads were selling it without the proper legal stuff put in place then yes it would be a problem, but a short cover on youtube in 2015? Not much of an issue imo.

I love hearing covers of Princes music. I mean, a month ago I heard an album full of goth bands covering Prince! That was a ride and a half of an album, jesus. It's honestly a shame he's so tight when it comes to his music because there is hardly any covers on YT to watch.

Prince needs to fire his sister. She takes far too long with these take-down notices.

Imo, Prince is conflicted about the wordly nature of his old songs and any negative impact they may have on the listener. Especially the youth.
