In that BBC Documentary I think Michael B says the majority of the songs were recorded in ONE AFTERNOON in Paris. And it was supposed to be a day off. Amazing! I like When The Lights Go Down but that's about it.

I don't remember him talking about this but anyway if u look at the recording dates on Princevault it doesn't make sense, the tracks were recorded over the course of several years and do not belong to a single set of session, let alone a single day session.

This one was recorded in a day but neither in Paris nor with Michael.

Actually I wish instead of asking Eric the same old questions about Madhouse and The Flesh, questions he's answered over and over again, interviewers would ask him about N.E.W.S.. I'd like to know how much rehearsal preceded the recording, what was instructed by Prince and what was left to the band to improvise, how Prince gave them his instructions (did he for example record some demos beforehand or did he just give instructions) and how much overdubs were added. N.E.W.S. features pretty complex pieces of music and the structure of the tracks must have been organized somehow, + the fact that P got all the writing credits tend to say this wasn't entirely improvised by the whole band.

I wouldn't mind someone asking Eric about the recording of the 1993 version of 24 either, I mean we know the recording dates and personel and all, but we don't know much about the spirit of those sessions and the way the tracks were composed either.

I've always enjoyed this album of songs that didn't fit on an album/left overs.

I prefer Chaos and Disorder, does that make me a bad person? eek

In regards to "The Vault; Old Friends 4 Sale", there are a few gems on the album that I enjoy for sure.

I guess he got confused maybe because that is what he said. I was just repeating it. There was probably so much going on back then that he lost track of what they recorded and when.

I love me some "there is Lonely" as well... that track does not seem to get mentioned enough IMHO.
