At least Hannah is autotuned so her flat vocals don't make my teeth hurt, like every time she sings on Plectrum. But then, Prince is autotuned too, which is just silly. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Having listened to it a few times: Music is strong. First minute or so is strongest. Prince sounds great. Hannah & Prince sound good on chorus, but when Hannah takes lead verse duty the song sort of falls a part. Though it picks up again from the 3:30 mark and I like the vocal harmony. Good music. Good production. Good performance. 3rdEyeGirl do have a definite 'sound'. Shit lyrics. I remain a proud simple-minded banished one. Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

Nice song, Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

It's also an endless circle--you can say it to someone of any faith (or none) about any faith (or none). Religious proposition A might be right... but I believe B, and it might be the right one, and then what about poor you who believe in A. Boom! I DON"T win, no matter how clever I think I'm being. It's a dumb form of argument, but I can't believe how many times I've heard people spout it as if they've just said the most brilliant thing ever. . So you're making a bet on a horse--and if it comes in, you win. But what if the other horse comes in? (and what if there's no actual race anyway?) . Personally, I've got to say I think "One of Us" is tons better--at least in part because the speaker there doesn't come from a position of KNOWING--and the speaker in this song is sure they're right, and is only playing at the What If. You're damned if you don't agree, and there isn't the slightest possibility that they've chosen the wrong set of things to believe. . I'd actually imagined it would sound heavier than it did. I thought I knew where a 3rdEyeGirl version would go, and it didn't, quite. It was okay--as I've said elsewhere, I miss the searching aspect in Prince's religious songs for the last couple of decades, so I've gotten used to the aesthetically-boring (and personally nonresonant) quality of the lyrics. But this fits in with what he does with a religious song now, and it sounded decent. I like Hannah better as a supporting voice (much as I did Lisa and Wendy, honestly), so I probably would have preferred Prince lead throughout, but ... it was okay.

It's a cover, it's a Christian Rock song, and Hannah Ford singing. 3x thumbs down from me. Oh and it's really not that interesting musically.

Pretty good at the beginning to the middle of the song...Hannah is the weakest link on this one. Prince starts to break out a little of the falsetto. Then, rethinks it, using the lower registers of his voice for the most part. Guitar also is good to the middle of the song and then falls off in terms of interesting licks. Prince always does find a way to make the guitar sound different on his songs.
Pretty intense, how the song starts, though.
P does make it interesting...

Yep! Funny that the station has not played a single Prince song since. It's like they were forced to do it or something. And they probably never played him before today. I wanted to like it though. There is always hope for Prince.

The riffs at 1:43 (and again 3:09) remind me of another song, possibly from a rock/metal group but I can't put my finger on it. Any ideas??? [Edited 3/12/15 19:58pm]

Well shit, they played like 30 tracks by one man in one day, I think their audience might need a bit of a break. Change it one more time..

Nice instrumental. The lyrics are like watching an interview with Richard Dawkins or Christopher Hitchens on Fox News... Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

's vocals is OUTSTANDING as usual. It amazes me, how he could listen to it,on the radio, & recreate this "MasterPiece" on a whim with 3RDEYEGIRL. They've created their own unique sound now. They've become the hottest band on tour....All because plucked them from U-tube..

Excellent post, and I agree with all of it. The idea that a person would present their faith as the only correct, logical choice, when "faith," by definition, requires the absence of logic, is just absolutely ludicrous to me.
