Jerome is a very nice, cool, approachable dude. I ran into him once in a clothing store, I use to shop at. He was getting a suit to wear for another "Musicology" tour per4mance that, I had just attended the week b 4. Of course I drilled him(about ) ..

ROLLING STONE (1990)
PRINCE TALKS BY NEAL KARLEN
At first it seems strange for to hear Prince talking in such fond and nostalgic terms about Day and the band. Day left the Minneapolis fold right after Purple Rain, with some nasty words about the boss's supposedly dictatorial ways. Now, Prince says, "I honestly don't remember how we got it together again."
Day's old charge of overbossing, however, brings a quirkier and crosser memory. "That whole thing came from my early days, when I was working with a lot of people who weren't exactly designed for their jobs," Prince says. "I had to do a lot, and I had to have control, because a lot of them didn't know exactly what was needed."
The most often-told tale involves Prince firing the then-unknown Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis from the Time in 1982. Jam and Lewis, all parties now agree, left a Time tour on a day off to produce their first record for the SOS Band. A freak snowstorm in Atlanta grounded them for an extra day, and the two missed a gig. When Jam and Lewis returned, they were summarily fired. Jobless, the two missed Purple Rain, so they set up as producers and went scrounging for clients. In the years since, they've produced everyone from Janet Jackson to Herb Alpert, becoming the other superpower on the Minneapolis music scene.
"I'm playing the bad guy," says Prince, "but I didn't fire Jimmy and Terry. Morris asked me what I would do in his situation. Remember, it was his band."
Despite the rap, Prince says, he harbors no ill will toward the now-famous producers working across town from Paisley Park at their Flyte Time studios. "We're friends," he says. "We know each other like brothers. Jimmy always gave me a lot of credit for getting things going in Minneapolis, and I'm hip to that. Terry's more aloof, but I know that." And their music? "Terry and Jimmy aren't into the Minneapolis sound," Prince says. "They're into making every single one of their records a hit. Not that there's anything wrong with that, we're just different."

Initial tracking took place on 26 March, 1983 at Sunset Sound, Hollywood, CA, USA (the day before My Summertime Thang and Cloreen Baconskin). While reflecting on the track's history on Facebook in 2014, Jesse Johnson wrote "Jungle Love- Saved my food $ the 1999 Tour came home bought a Tascam reel to reel 8 track recorder and came up with music for JUNGLE! Prince [wrote?] every word+melody and kilted it." He later added, "I used Prince's Hohner Tele to play the rhythm guitar part ... Did the solo at a later date in LA @ Sunset Sound using the Pink G&L prototype + my fawn colored 1979 Marshall JCM 800," indicating that a second recording date took place.
Jesse Johnson was initially included in the credits when submitted for copyright in May, 1984, but after he left the band, his name was removed from the credits when the track was released.

. I think Kcool said he met Jerome at the clothing store while he was getting a new suit. Started talking as Jerome is very nice, approachable and cool dude...and then Kcool took his chance and DRILLED him! . I had to read it again...but that's what Kcool said he did to Jerome, well at least he's honest and not ashamed about it! No offense but that's quite a confession... .

Am I the only one who was slightly disappointed with Ice Cream Castles?
I just don't think it's a strong Time album."Jungle Love" has a great groove, but the song is too repetitive."The Bird" is alot of fun,but seems hastily thrown together."Chili Sauce" is filler, and the slow jam "If The Kid Can't Make U Come" is just downright silly
The previous album What Time Is It? is a pure masterpiece.A true classic!
Maybe the departure of Jam and Lewis is to blame,or maybe Prince was rushed and didn't have enough time to make the album special, but Ice Cream Castles lacks that 'extra something'.

- Yes, it needs another decent song. I like the beat of 'My Drawers' (there's some energy to it) but overall ICC feels like half an album.

Exactly! It feels like a half-baked album."My Drawers" is my favorite song, though It has an attitude and humor that's missing from the other tracks.

After What Time Is It? Yes Ice Cream Castles feels 'undone'
I love the Title Track, and actually enjoy most of the music on the album but something is missing. Let's Go Crazy

Morris Day, although he did have a moderate successful solo career after "Purple Rain", should have been HUGE! He had the comedic chops. He could have been the next Eddie Murphy or Mike Epps. Now he is stuck playing the Morris Day character that created the rest of his life. It's quite sad. still has power over him 4ever.... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! It is sad. I think the group talked about it in a different forum He has the capabilities to break out of that easily And they had it with the 07 group/album . 1.) song messages need to expand 2.) He need to take note after Sheila E. (start playing drums and singing) 3.) should do some stuff with some of the others from his time with Prince, Sheila E, Revolution members(I would love Lisa & Wendy to produce him) do some music with the Family

When I auditioned for The Time...(laughs faintly) I was scared to death. I'll never forget it. I was, of all things, on vacation in a place called Breezy Point and I got the call for the audition. (I) went home and I did not get the cassette tape on time. I got it the night before the audition and had to learn everything the night before the gig.
I was nervous. I went in did the best I could, based on all the training I got from my family and all the gigs I had done prior to that. I guess it turned out okay. I wish I could remember the exact number (of songs I played), but, it felt like a million songs. It was probably four or five.
The first time I met Prince was at the first callback—my second audition (with The Time). He wasn't at the first one. I was nervous. He was this big rock star. He walked into the room and I think we were picking out swatches for the material we were going use for the suits in the movie ("Purple Rain"). It became my orange suit. I had picked out a beautiful black pinstriped suit and he said "No, you've got to stand out." Then he picked out an orange one for me. I said "I'm not wearing that." He said "Yes, you are."
So, that was one portion of our meeting.
Filming "Purple Rain..." talk about being thrown to the wolves, in a good way. My phrase is "Be ready for the opportunity, because, you don't when it's going to strike." I was fortunate enough for that to be a pretty incredible opportunity.
Those guys put me right in the mix. One minute, I'm auditioning for the band, the next minute I'm filming for a little film. We didn't know what it was going to do-- now it's turned into an incredible entity and is part of music history. It's pretty humbling, but, you never know that going in. You have to be ready.
I think growing up in that family of mine prepared me for a lot of different situations. (But), it couldn't prepare me for what those guys gave to me. It was a whole new line of education.
The one and only scene where I had a line was when we're (The Time) walking through the back hallways of First Avenue and Morris Day leans back and says "How's the family?"
They had us there quite a bit, more than you would think. (There were) a lot of club scenes. We didn't have any major speaking roles, but, we were there a lot. It was freezing. I remember that.

Only Morris's diehard fans, barely even know he plays drums, let alone played on some of 's classc early funk "MasterPieces"...He needs to get behind that kit again LIVE! Peeps would be shocked! Even Morris said he wishes he was the drummer 4 "The Revolution" instead of playing a character.
He's stuck in an old school 80's revival tour mode. Wendy & Lisa CAN'T & NEVER have written a hit 4 anyone! Morris needs Bruno Mars to write and produce a hit 4 him like. "Uptown Funk"! Not to say he is not a good live per4mer. I've seen him several times live, with his revived group( I refuse to call them "The Time"). He is an excellent entertainer. Jerome even tried to pull me on stage with them once. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! I mean they would take him through a different perspective. I'm not talking about having a hit. They could do that though. Something that can help him express some other feelings and ideals. They could do it, and especially being from the same camp
