The long version of America is one of the songs that got me REALLY into Prince. I liked him since 1999 but America was the 1st 12" single I got and I fuckin LOVED it. I couldn't believe that a song could last 20 minutes. It blew my mind. I like the b-side, Girl, too. It opened up the door to all the extended versions/b-sides/remixes that I never knew extisted before. I only bought 45s before then.
Prince became the artist I listened to most of the time for at least the next 3 years because of the 20 minute version of America.  | |
