Eric Leeds said that Prince took out his check book and wrote out a check to pay George tax bill. I am sure this act of kindness will not make it into the lasted tabloid book that is coming out about Prince.

Rap, particularly Ice Cube, saved George Clinton. Pop Gun was all over the airwaves, The Cinderella Theory was not. George had the funk when Prince was still in diapers, if anything, Prince learned it from him.

eyerolling edit [This message was edited Fri Mar 21 12:11:04 PST 2003 by FunkMistress] Was that the time George jumped right in the water to retreive the "SoulPsychodelicide" casette tape that Prince had been listening to in his car, driving around minesota and then threw out the window at the same location he always throws his casette tapes of new and original material out of the window into the river??? and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Gangsta rap in general saved George Clintons career He has 2 be one of the most sampled artists in that genre Snoop and Dre's material uses Clintons material liberally.

Them boys probably always gonna be cool...how did that Cube song go? sumthin like, bought a house in Minnesota right next door to Prince...plus P sampled Cube on the Good Life remix and Cube appeared on Paint the White house Black...hmmm to think one of my all time favorite rappers has been on a Paisley Park Production and an NPG also...coinkydink... -------------------------------------------------

ICe Cube Directed Prince&Nona Gaye for the Song"Love Sign".anyway Prince Hooked George CLinton Up on the Tax Money but Musically they didn't work well together IMHO.Very Generic Funk-Lite at best IMHO. mistermaxxx

Rap&Sampling truly did.James Brown was the Main Man in the Mid 80's then toward the late 80's P-Funk got Sampled like Crazy.thanks to De La Soul,Digital Underground,Dr.Dre,Ice Cube,Snoop Dogg,etc... they Brought George Clinton&Crew a Whole New Era of His Era&The Rest as they say is History.also Many Rappers gave it up for "Atomic Dog".that One Song alone was Clinton's Hall-Pass in the Hip-Hop Community For Life. mistermaxxx

I read in the Newspaper about a year ago that Clinton filed bankruptcy in Florida.

Prince bailed Clinton out when he was experiencing financial problems.
He then signed him to Paisley where he released both 'The Cinderella Theory' and 'Hey Man ...'. I haven't heard 'The Cinderella Theory' but I thought 'Hey Man ...' was quite a tight album. I still listen to it. As Gansta Rap was sampling Clinton to such an extent it was necesssary to include these rappers to repay the debt. This of course, necessitated a more electronic, contemporary production. 'Hey Man ...' does have some really strong songs on it, but Prince and clinton only collaborate on one song 'The Big Pump', so I don't think we can judge whether they 'worked' musically from that one composition, although I do think that Prince has appeared to gel better with Larry Graham and Chaka Khan. I was always suprised by Prince's lack of involvement in Clinton's projects for paisley. However, their most recent colloboration 'Paradigm' was very funky and pretty cool.

I never knew that Cube directed the Lovesign video but this is very interesting info. I think I've only seen the video once. Just wondering where you heard this? -------------------------------------------------

Is George still big into drugs?
I can see him stil being a major stoner. Maybe that has something to do with Prince not working with him much. Larry of course is a total goofball, and Prince idolises him it seems. I'm just glad he isn't in the band anymore, I don't think I could have handled seeing Tina fauning over her idol/husband in the front row again. --------------------

Friend of mine working a club said George showed up for a gig, and asked where can he get some crack. 2 years ago.
but THAT is HEARSAY. I don't believe it. He sure doesn't LOOK like he does drugs. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Prince helped rescue the Funk! He pay some tax bills and dropped an lp they went back on the road and the rest is history. And GC paid him back with a couple of uncredited singles that were hits for Prince.
As for as drugs most musicians use them don't kid yourselves. Prince ain't no saint.
