But Mandingo, that is why he is cool. Think about it, for over three decades, Prince has mesmerized the world into thinking that he is the coolest brother on earth! Are you serious Mandingo? Or is this a joke? I mean Prince has more cool in his fingertip or toe than most celebrities have in thier whole body. Just look at their reactions when they are in the same room as him. And they, the celebrities, are "supposed" to be cool. No one I know has got a cooler attitude than Prince. Like his song says "he learned all of this not from school, but he's COOL!" And if you disagree point out someone you think is cool, this I gotta read.

It all depends on how you define cool. For me, it's definitely not about talking "street" or anything like that but simply about being comfortable in your own skin. Granted, there are times when Prince is obviously self-conscious, but you have to admit, he's not afraid to march to the beat of his own drum regardless of what people think. And that, at least to me, is the epitome of cool.

1. What is Cool is a philisophical question. Anyone that is "cool" (from James Dean to Billy Dee Williams) is projecting a purposeful/calculated image and attitude. The very fact that a person is fronting is not "cool".

2. Prince is more cool than 99.9 percent of celebrities/musicians/etc. Is he cooler than Miles Davis? No....he is too passionate. One doesn't conjure the holy screaming/screeching as witnessed on "the beautiful ones" if they are not part fire.

Miles Davis approached things very dispassionately, robotically, and in hushed tones. Prince has too much Jimi and James in him to be "cool" like Miles.

3. If I didn't think a musician was cool, I probably wouldn't post shit on a website devoted to them. It wouldn't be cool.

Prince is the very definition of cool, IMO. I've met him, and he was cool as hell. Honestly, all character opinions are invalid if you've never met the person.

I think what OP is mistaking for "acting" at being cool, is actually Prince presenting the character of an extrovert that isn't necessarily how he always feels or acts. But that's how entertainment works and especially music videos. It's all character acting. A lot of the time, Prince is an introvert who lives inside his own head. His early TV appearances like Dick Clark made that very obvious. But that doesn't make for good music videos
