Prince...like a boss: What is your fav badass Prince moment?

For me, 2004 ROck n Roll Hall of Fame: in front of his "peers" he completely wrecked a stage that included Steve Winwood, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lyne while thoroughlty whipping Eric Clapton's ass on the solo during "WHile My Guitar Gently Weeps", throwing his now legendary Tellecaster into the front row, and pimping off the stage. It was a motherfuckin clinic on muscianship, showmanship, and coolness. It was one of the moments that defined why I have been a fanatic since 1978 and why no one can tell me that there is another human on this planet tha can touch him.

Now that you mention it, Prince is like a boss. But he's not like a good boss, he's like one of those dick bosses who does things just to fuck with you and makes you want to go get another job.

RIP sad

Last time I checked Prince was a musician to me that makes music. He has never been known to me as a real boss in terms of employment. But whatever. Another wierd Org moment. As far as a "like a boss" moment Prince has had many in my eyes. A few that comes to mind are when I am watching him in concert and he rips into an awesome guitar solo that ends with one spot-light just on him with him playing one high note with his finger in the air with his head tilted back with his eyes closed. He stops. Stone quiet and looks into the audience as if is to say "You all want some more?" He owns his crowds. I have many badass Prince moments but that one comes to mind.

Why even come to this site if you feel that way? I will never understand people who hate Prrince that insist on visiting a Prince fan site to post negative things for people who love Prince to read. What do you get out of that and what does that say about you? Wouldnt it be better for you to find something that you like and post there so you can have some peace?

I don't hate Prince but he can certainly be a dick.

I do love Prince's music and shows rather a lot.

Maybe you should read my posts from your thread the other day where you were being negative about AOA being produced, composed, arranged and performed by Prince and Joshua Welton. You know, the thread where you were being negative and I posted something positive. I must admit, I did wonder at the time why you even bothered coming to this site if all you were going to do was make a negative thread...

In that very thread you moan about the dreadful release party. Well, that dreadful party is exactly the sort of thing I'm referring to in my post above. Hh ahs the potential to do something superb and just fucks it up.

Some of his one off TV/Award show performances have been pretty badass.

Two that immediately jumped into my head reading this were Dreamer on Jay Leno Tonight show (would that have been 2009?) and Peach at the 1994(?) MTV Europe awards.

So much guitar posturing and confident swag. cool

Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

The tv show when he played somebody else's guitar so good that it was screaming in pain (or for more) as the credits rolled. Jimmy Fallon (Mariah Carey was there too)?
What?

I think at the Grammys when he entered
thru the audience with the band following
him. It was like "I'm here and I'm taking over.
Meet the new boss in town."

Was it the MTV Europe awards where he first had the black symbol guitar, and played Peach? That was fuckin' great. "Peace to George Michael... Peace to TLC... Peace to MTV.... and Death to Prince.. <rips into Peach>"

Some great moments mentioned so far like the Peach performance, especially the first few seconds as he just parades for the audience.

My personal one is probably the Coachella performance of Shhhh, which, apart from the stunning guitar and drum work has Prince at the end holding the longest sustain note I have ever seen and slowly lowers his hand from his face, pulls the funk face, and slams into a Hendrix like solo. Pure genious, like the Guardian stated it's teh arrogance when you know you are the best at what you do.

My comments about AOA were not negative - so get that straight right offd the top. And I dont need to read your posts - I read the one that you used the term "dick boss" in reference to Prince. THAT is negative about Prince. I didnt like the release party - no one did - but that is not slamming Prince. THat party was some nonsense he let the youngster around him handle and it showed and I called THAT out. Try all day but you cant catch my slipping by going back through my posts. I am far too consistent and intelligent for that so try someone else. Let me guarantee you that I am not the one you want for that.

Too many to mention but I have always admired his TV apperences. One of my all time favorite is the 1995 AMA when he pops up from ground, that was slick as hell.

That may have been the first of these moments - probably the most classic Prince performance. It was the first time for many to see Prince live - even some of his so-called peers were astonished and had never seen anything like it. Excellent choice

Shhh - Le Grand Journal Paris, 2011. Best version of this song I have ever heard. He added some extra jelly into the guitar parts

Fury - SNL. Even non-prince fans were very impressed.

Fallon - Screwdrive and Bambi - This could be by #1. So much swag and hearing Bambi live on TV was something I have been waiting for for a long time.

RRHOF: 2004. His perfectly executed finish, guitar removal/toss and exit stage left was the eipitome of like a boss.

Prince isn't half the guitarist Clapton is.

But, according to your system of fractions, when he made 'Sign 'O the Times' Prince was roughly five times the the guitarist Clapton is now.
