I love everything about this album, including Avalanche. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

What I like most about it is it's something different. Not just another by-the-numbers album. It's Prince taking risks. Fuck yeah. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

A lot of people don't like the lyrics. Me? I think it's a pretty dull song.

120 dollars? Geez....
Also, Avalanche is far and away the crowning achievement on this album.
Some of his best songwriting in years. The rest of the album is nice, but most of it looks/sounds sophomoric in comparison to Avalanche.

I love it, very unique sensual and melancholy atmosphere. It's not something I actually listen to a whole lot, but every time I do it's an incredibly powerful experience. I think it would probably just manage to get into my top 10 Prince albums, while 1999 and Controversy probably wouldn't, which goes to show how highly I regard it (although this is probably more due to my being an incredibly perverse human being.) Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

Genesia said: I love it enough to have purchased a second-hand CD for $120US. The only song I don't care for is Avalanche, but it's easy enough to skip. What??? Avalanche is pure brilliance. Makes my top 20 of all P time. I will never forget the live version in Chicago...people's mouths were literally dropped.

Avalanche is one of the worst songs on the album, just behind Young & Beautiful, and totally disrupts the flow and ruins a perfectly good album to take a bubble bath and fuck to. At least that's been my experience with it.

I enjoy most of the album, but Avalanche is the standout song, and it ranks amongst Prince's finest in my opinion. Hundalasiliah!
