On being a Prince Fan Boy A recent thread included a post used the term ass-kissing fanboy. This was of course meant to be an insult. But when I reflected on it I thought "yeah I would call myself a fanboy." And I don't have a problem with that. To me saying I'm a Prince fanboy means I love his music and closely follow his career. It doesn't mean I blindly agree with everything he says or does - it just means I appreciate and respect his artistry. Am I misinterpreting the word fanboy or is this an accurate description? |

The term alone makes me cringe. Fanboys irk me.
And no you should not equate respect and appreciation with fanboyism. |

Fanboy is a derisive term used to describe fans that indiscriminately love absolutely everything an artist has ever done and idealize him.
Outside of MCool, I don't know many people like that here.
That's why I have this theory that MCool and SnottySnobmeg are one and the same -- think about it, it makes a lot of sense. |

It's pronounced A-WHOREOGRAM or you can refer to me by the unpronouncable symbol featured as my fanboy avatar, my dear MCool. |

The irony here being that it also sums you up perfectly too.

Arguments or debates as such are futile - (You'll like this because, wait for it...) Double Check!
If anyone was looking for any evidence it's in the recent flood of threads you've started:
"Has Prince written one song that matters!!!!?" "How many Prince fanboys know I'm a troll!!!!!?" "Why wont Aerogram go out with me!!!?"

As some people probably guessed, there's a substantial chance this was a pretty good impersonation of an ultra-condescending Prince "hater", courtesy of some "fanboy" or "fangirl" wishing to unite the Org in disapproval.

^ Nailed it.
I don't mind being called a fanboy. I own all the albums, most of the singles, the official picture books and the un-official bios. That's pretty "Fanboy". If there's a symbol on it I'll consider purchasing.
If anyone ever asked the question "why did he change the intro on "Movie Star"... that's definite fanboy territory.
You don't have to agree with everything the guy does. I don't. But it's hard to argue that he's not a world class musician who's work is worthy of interest.
I might be blind, but I dont think there are a huge proportion of Prince fans who think he can do no wrong. His fans on the whole are highly critical.
