NO self-respecting 13 year old would dare listen to music. They might stumble on U Know cuz of the Auto Tune, and then stop listening when they found out it was a near senior citizen pandering to young people styles.
Sadly, This Could B Us is a nice song from a good album that is trying too hard to fit in today's styles. I still cringe like there's no tomorrow when that stupid loud horn blows in Art Official Cage. That damn overused sound effect is more lame than writing a great lyric like "My friends all say I'm crazy...for falling in love with you." Cliche-ridden garbage sound effects still couldn't bring down AOA too much. But it really should have been the best 78 minutes of the two albums. 93 total minutes for two discs is stupid. ^Dirty Mind was only 29 minutes and I never heared anyone complain about that. In fact, I think AOA would have been better if it was shorter! Cut out the weakest tracks, Breakfast Can Wait and What it Feels Like and everything would fit nicely on one LP. | |

Like every prince album from Graffiti Bridge onwards you're gonna have a hard time finding consensus on what the strongest and weakest tracks are. For example, I think Breakast Can Wait and What it Feels Like are two of the strongest tracks on the album. With Prince these days i'm happy with quantity and I can make my own decisions on quality. | |

Of all the radio friendly tracks on AOA, they chose one of the only two songs that were not radio friendly (the other being TIME). It sounds like an EMANCIPATION track, it's not attractive at all for the radio listeners.I'm really impressed by this lack of good sense, from a big major record. Maybe it was another bad idea from Prince himself ? Since he left WB, it seems that he choose the worst singles possible, just for the fun of it. WB should have put WAY BACK HOME, or U KNOW, the latter having no more than 100 spins during 3 days two months ago. U KNOW never charted any week even on the URBAN AC CHARTS. It's the first time ever that Prince didn't chart any single from an album in any charts. Anyway, it doesn't matter. With no music video, no Prince's involvement, it's dead already. Edit : according to Laurarichardson seems like it's NPG and not WB. It would have been indeed a crazay move from a major record such as WB. [Edited 1/19/15 3:17am] [Edited 1/19/15 3:19am] | |

Love love love this song. I hope they add it on Heart and Soul on Sirius/XM - it's tailor made for that channel. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. | |

It's always the way. I agree though, it would be interesting to see how prince would put together a short album alright, I wonder is he capable of it? | |

Doesn't matter to me since where I live radio are not aware of quality. And to prove my point, our biggest channel on the airwaves haven't played ANY D'Angelo tracks since his release. This from a station which is known for playing a wider range of music compared to the others (Those that plays the same song, and I'm not kidding, two or three times every 2 hours). | |

Since WB has now had to resort to recycling the SNL appearance for Anotherlove & Marz videos, maybe they could recycle past footage for a video for this song. Imagine a montage of clips drawn from Purple Rain (P & Apples) since that is the basis of the meme... and all of Prince's other onscreen exes. That would surely piss Prince off, but could be funny as hell and quite popular online. I was on a British Airways flight last week, and the full AOA album was available as part of the in-flight entertainment selections. I was very surprised. You might randomly catch one old song in a compilation (80s Essentials, or something like that). First time ever seeing a full Prince album. | |

Love the song! Hope it will be a hit! 2015 just may be a big year for Prince especially if he decides to go on tour! Crossing my fingers! "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

I dont care what anyone says about it. I cant stop listening to Clouds. As a fan from day 1 (menaing 1978 with Soft n Wet) I know that means this album resonates and has substance. | |

I listen to AOA allll the time, it truly does grow on you, in fact I loved it on first listen. He could at least be getting spins on RnB stations. Despite what some of you might think, the material is there, I'm afraid it's completely on Prince if the project goes down. I know I'll still enjoy the albums whether or not they chart or sell. But for someone who lives for the now, you'd think he would want to keep the legacy going!! [Edited 1/20/15 13:36pm] [Edited 1/20/15 13:37pm] | |

Let's be careful about what's "fair." If Prince wanted the album to be successful, he would have done something more than what I count as the total promotion effort thus far: . 1. A Facebook Q&A in which one question was addressed . 2. A livestream featuring a host who didn't know "Lovesexy" from a 1960s polka album . 3. An SNL appearance that featured a guitar solo that was whoops...unplugged . 4. Closing social media accounts with no thought of capitalizing on the tens of thousands of followers who were seeing posts, no matter how cryptic they were . If Prince thinks he can record an album and have it be successful based on his popularity on the radio 25-30 years ago, then he's just wrong, and unfortunately not one but two albums proved it in the last few months. A poorly produced video for another single won't change that, I'm afraid. [Edited 1/20/15 16:15pm] Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. !. But what about what he HAS given us? Many albums worth of songs, just in the past two years. MORE than any artist in history.....
2. Thousands of concerts! Many surprised ones. What artist has consistently per4rmed all their life. NONE.
3. Two surprise albums in ONE month!
4. Two bands simultaneously . With two different sounds.
5. A surprise sitcom appearance.
I can go on & on & on...STOP being ungrateful and appreciate what U have gotten.
Who cares about social media?! He gave a lot during that time period anyway. Social media is the devil. Eye never liked him giving into that anyway. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! ---------- Well it is official you nothing about RnB music. This song is perfect for RnB Adult format. My guess is that WB could not get the first two songs on the radio and that P may be dealing with either black balling or just radio PDs deciding that he is too old which for the Hip/Hop format he is is too old. This song is a good stong RnB ballad and if NPG records has hired an outside promoter to get it on the air so be it. It is good to see him not giving up he has strong RnB sales so he might as well give another single a try. It is obvious WB has given up on the project and due to the RnB content it never had a chance to make it on the Pop chart. | |

----------- Clouds and Art Official Age were sent to the radio and radio did not play the songs. WB or Prince cannot make radio play the singles. He could have made more apperences to promote the CD but that still would not make radio play the singles. | |

What I said has nothing to do with being ungrateful for what Prince produced in the last 24 months. What I said is don't blame the lack of radio adds on what's "fair." Prince fought a long time for the freedom he wanted. And that freedom comes with taking responsibility for successes and failures. Fairness isn't a part of it. I listened to Hot 92.3 (Old School and R&B station here in L.A.) all day at work today. Not one spin of TCBU. But I heard every Alicia Keys single released since 2001 (no joke), I heard "Return of the Mack", I heard that 90's rap wack ass song that had the "I'm the lyrical gangster" line... I mean, come ON! That's how you know radio is fucking dead. Prince puts out a great new song and instead of playing it just once the R&B station plays the shit out of old rap songs and other crap. They wonder why satellite and iPods are kicking their ass. Radio doesn't want to take chances. Bullshit! Grow some balls! Play some new Prince!!!!! I wish u heaven | |

Well, you almost have some decent points for once. We are a greedy bunch here.
Prince has given us more great songs than anyone in history, but he's had to add garbage like Tony M, and has made some really dumb career moves that normal people cringe at the thought.
But this place is filled with those on one of two sides of the extreme:
Either every single thing Prince has done has been stupid...we'll call those Brats...(You can change a letter around to know who I am calling out..)
And there are those like you my Kool Friend....those who think every single thing Prince has done is some wonderful groundbreaking act of art...
And both sides are just out of their minds in my opinion...because I have an opinion. It can't be an opinion if you love every single thing or hate every single thing. There has to be middle ground. | |

radio will add anything that they think will add listeners. That simple. Derive what you will from that bit of obviousness. | |

Of course, the radio is crowded with old pop stars approaching 60. He could make the most killer song, and his age would likely prevent radio from caring. Unless it's a duet with some young trend follower with lots of Auto Tune and lots of dumb sound effects like the Prize Patrol loud horn in Art Official Cage. | |
