AOA Still Alive? ("This Could Be Us" offcial single. Radio Adds)

Got a little news blurb in my email last night...."Going For Adds January 20th...from the album Art Official Age...."This Could Be Us..."

From Prince's publicity team.

Interesting. It seems like P's people are listening to R&B radio which has been giving this song some play....Frankly, despite AOA's critical success, it's clear that Prince fucked up by dropping this album and then hiding out like he was on America's Most Wanted list....No one else to blame for AOA's under-performing but Prince...

So will we see some real promotion, a video perhaps? Wouldn't bet on it but stranger things have happened.....But he might as well get back on the AOA record since his appearance at the Golden Globes proved he could still move the needle culturally and on social media (shocker)....

We will see....

The album is dead, the song is not going to make an impact (because it's not going to be promoted). Having said that, I'm still listening to AOA on a daily basis, and I am now a little bit obsessed with This Could Be Us...

even with promotion the song wouldn't make impact. It's not pop enough imo

This Could Be Us -- that was one of the major growers on AOA for me. What I thought was maybe a weak spot became a guilty pleasure. Doesn't matter if this gets any traction, that song is a nifty little Prince ballad.

Always loved this track. Please 12 inch it into a seduction suite razz Man that would be some creamy shit. Great idea for a Bside is Anotherlove from Plectrum Electrum, the ideal one two punch.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Could we get an actual legit video please? Something filmed specifically for the song with Prince in it and perhaps a few cameos, incorporating the meme it was named after would be nice.

Yep. I didn't care much about it at first, but it's growing on me too. And I'm glad to see AOA is not going down without a fight. It may turn out to be a sleeper. If that is still possible in these days of quick, fast in a hurry...

what is a "Prince single" these days...question

There's no more cd-single releases - and of course no more 7 & 12 inch vinyl singles neither.

I just don't know what "a single" means now...

Is it a promo-cd released to radio stations, maybe:...?

(I agree the track is a fantastic choice, I wish I could buy a cd-single w. extended versions, b-sides etc...)

I think the AOA album is excellent and PE pretty good also. Maybe Prince knows that his fans will listen to his music, and that non-fans probably won't. 2014 was great for me, I saw two shows in London, got two new Prince albums and some other tracks and releases. Thank you Prince.

If he chooses not to whore himself round all the talk shows like a salesman to shift a few more units that's cool. If he has made music he is artistically happy with and released to make it available for those of us who are interested, that's cool also.

I'm not knocking murph's comment, just saying that as a fan, it's nice when Prince gets wider recognition, but he doesn't need it, so why should we?

Did they conveniently leave out 'Warner Bros Records'?

I doubt this leftover from 'For You' will become a hit.

Crackin song. And no, of course it won't be a 'hit'. Doesn't take away from the fact it's a really good song.

IMO AOA deserved better treatment from it's creator but for whatever reason he hasn't cooperated with much of the outline suggested in the WB press releases. He didn't even promote the cd on SNL other than Clouds. He chose to play a cover song along with a 3rd Eye track.

He gave the same treatment to Universal with the 3121 cd. They reportedly had a lot more planned besides the golden ticket promo.

I believe that if Prince had even so much as mentioned wanting to perform on any talk or award show being broadcast, somebody would have made it happen but apparently his mind is elsewhere. shrug

It's too bad with 3121, im my opinion it's the most complete Prince album, not the strongest, but the most complete out of all the albums since 2004.

Whenever I listened to AOA I thought this would be one of the best for urban stations. He hasn't really been on the radio in the US since 2006, and this is a better track than Black Sweat IMO.

Change it one more time..

Nice promo!

Of all the songs on the album, I think this has the biggest chance of being a hit if there's some promo put into it. A video (for some reason I see one in my head similar to "Somebody's Somebody"), some club remixes, a late night TV appearance, all these things would be good.

Please do some promotion P!

Loved the song from the start.

I think it could do well on r&B radio...

The gold standard would have been maybe a better choice, but still...

I am just wondering why with this new promotion company...is not

warner making this job usually...? smile
