Thoughts on I'll Do Anything

I think these tracks are incredibly underrated as performed by Prince. So lose and smooth flowing without liltle pretention or cringworth moments. Prince was really trying to be a true "songsmith" here but also wanting to be a dad. Dont Talk To Strangers is a great example. "Be My Mirror" another one.

Makes me real sad he never had this chance.

Were the songs ever recorded by the actors themselves?

Some at least are circulating.

I love I'll Do Anything (the song), it would have been a great addition to TVOF4S nod

It could have been interesting, or a complete disaster. I can't imagine Nick Nolte trying to sing.

I wonder what caused it all to fall apart? Probably a combination of factors. I tried watching the movie, but couldn't get through it, that shrill screaming child was awful.

I worked with Maya Mcoy(who played one of the Rainbow Room kids) and she said she had to film her scenes twice because the first time(with the actors singing Prince's songs) was so bad.

There's a snippet of a slowed down version of 'I'll Do Anything', on a file I have called 'I'll Do Anything Medley' that I really like.. otherwise I'm glad the unreleased songs stayed unreleased.

The tracks on "The Vault" are so breezy and effortless sounding- that's the sound of a confident and really skilled musician.

He should have added the other IDA tracks and a few others, and you'd be getting into the "Parade" zone of an artist who can seemingly do anything- the songs have a joy overall (except "There is Lonely")- there is a great vibe to " The Vault"- free of any of the anger or attitude.

This album could have been more significant in his discography, with a little more care.

.

It is well-documented that the original version of the movie received horrible feedback during test viewings.
