If only!!! I used to go to the Minneapolis one all the time. I read an interview with Prince saying that he wished he had never opened any clubs. Not likely it will happen again, other than Paisley Park. No liquor there anymore, though.

Uh no. As much as I like the idea of the glam slam clubs no one is his camp knows how to effectively run a club and keep it going smoothly. If I remember correctly they were poorly managed and led to huge finanical problems. I wish he would just do initimate club performances with more than a few hours notice.

I imagine they bled cash.

The Glam Slam Miami birthday shows in 94 and 95 are awesome memories that I wish I could relive. Especially the second night of 95.

I'll never forget the LA GLAM SLAM show I went too. It was a benefit after the VH1 Honors in June of 94. Stevie Wonder was led to the stage by Berry Gordy & they launched into Maybe Your Baby. Prince was literally on the floor with a look of disbelief that he was playing with his idol, a goosebump moment.

Bring back Glam Slam clubs? This would be a historic money maker for Prince. Just think...naming a club after his most recognizable hit is pure brilliance! Considering Glam Slam as a single outsold When Doves Cry and Purple Rain combined. He could've named the club after some afterthought failed single like "Let's Go Crazy," but no...he hit a total home run with naming it Glam Slam.

And as far as great clubs go? I'll never forget my wonderful experience at Glam Slam Miami in 1995. It was a fairly slow night, and the nice employee out front was in charge of declaring somebody "Good enough to enter." After waiting out in the cold (Yeah, it was 45 in Miami that night), it only took me an hour to be deemed worthy to enter. I was allowed to be in there for an hour...and in that full hour, they did not play a single Prince song! What a wonderful thing for a Prince junkie like me!

I loved being treated rudely, and then hearing bad dance music for an hour!

The only other memory I have was seeing some guy in there who looked like Don Knotts on a bad hair day, with two beautiful girls who had to be with him for whatever money he had.

Yep, Prince is throwing away millions by not opening up Glam Slam again. He could get a sponsorship with Denny's for a "Glam Slam Grand Slam" Breakfast...but no...Prince is so terrified of all the millions of dollars these clubs would bring in. He nearly had to hire ten more accountants to keep up with all the cash the clubs were bringing in. I remember fans outside the door begging for somebody to open up a "Melody Cool" club. Another great business idea, to take a club from his iconic masterpiece Graffiti Bridge!

Thing is, we now have the technology in place that he could perform in one location and have it streamed. He'd be better off approaching a company that owns a few clubs and then having his "brand" tied into it somehow. TBH I dont think he has the interest in dance clubs anymore.

A small to medium sized Jazz bar on the other hand could work. Prince lives in Mpls though, and 6 months in he'd be bored.

They had that technology back in 1994 too. He performed 3 shows in Miami on June 7th, 8th, and 9th and they were streamed to the Minneapolis and Los Angeles clubs. That's where the bootleg videos come from.

I saw Prince play Glam Slam Minneapolis 14 times in 4 years. Prince was there a lot. Lots of private parties and unreleased material at the time. The club was actually pretty big. 2 levels, vip and general public. There was also a separate area for Prince's private parites, where you had to be invited after the regular club closed.

It might have something to do with the ugly drama that happened with the Minneapolis Glam Slam.This club was jointly owned by Prince and his associate Gilbert Davison.The two of them had a bitter falling out in the mid-90s.Prince cut his ties with the club and removed all of his memorabilia from the club.When Gilbert invited Sheila E. to perform at the club (and she agreed),Prince was pissed at her,too.

I spent MANY a FINE evening/early morning in Glam Slam L.A. It was on Boylston Street I want to say 333 S. Boylston if memory serves. It had a private-ish bar upstairs and a huge bar downstairs. Being 22 and walking into Glam Slam on a Thursday night at 11:45 surrounded by some of the finest pussy on the planet - well, everyone should have that experience. They used to host United Nations there when it was winding down. Two levels. Great sound. Man do I have great memories of that place. Back in late 92 maybe early 93 Sly Stallones' brother had a club on Sunset and his rent-a-cop security guards murdered a couple of black guys right outside one night and the DA IIRC refused to file any charges, or something, so there was a benefit /protest concert to raise money/awareness for the families of the murder victims there and I remember seeing the Pharcyde play with Weapon of Choice and half the original cats from Funkadelic that night. It was a great, great place to go and dance aside from seeing shows. Very large, plenty of space even when it was crowded it never felt crowded. I was sorry to see that place close down.

You need to sell alcohol to be profitable. Prince didn't want to sell alcohol anymore.

Never been to one but can't imagine what he was thinking. Clubs need to cater, he's the ultimte non-caterer.
