Prince songs that are cool to play on acoustic guitar? Do you have examples of Prince songs that sounds good on acoustic guitar along with vocals in that singer songwriter way, without being very difficult to play?
Personally I find Crazy You to be crazy cool on acoustic guitar and falsetto. When you were mine can be sung with a more "masculine" and bassy tone, and it'll sound pretty damn good also. It's always fun to hear Prince himself sing Cream with the acoustic guitar. Gotta learn that one. What about his ballads? My Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/tundrah

I enjoy playing Strange Relationship and Starfish and Coffee. I Could Never Take is also fun, but that descending G-F-E-D line on top of the F chord is tricky.

In my eyes just watch Prince's acoustic guitar set from the Musicology tour when he is swiveling on his seat 360 while playing snippets of about 20 songs. Just priceless to me. No special effects, just raw talent and great music in the most basic of ways. Thats a good place to start in my opinion. Check it out.

I've always wanted to learn how to play "Shy". For me, I love playing "Little Red Corvette" and "When U Were Mine" on my acoustic

"I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man" is pretty simple. Same three chords over and over. Plus - easy register to sing in

The chords change completely during the second half of the chorus.

Seriously, play "Kiss" like Prince plays it on the demo. People will like it.

My favorites to play acoustically are: Strange Relationship The whole key to this song is the little riff at the "Yeah yeah yeah" parts. It's a neat and easy riff that will impress your audience [Edited 12/19/14 11:14am]

Thank you! And to everyone else on this thread. This is great. Prince has so many different types of songs, that people that don't know Prince wouldn't be able to tell if it's the same person that has written all of these. That's why I love covering him when I'm practicing my guitar. My Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/tundrah

There was a video on youtube of a guy playing this. It started just finger style and built up. It was very melancholy/blues. I dont think it's still there but it wa awesome

I just want to second what RodeoSchro suggested. Take me with u is such a good song done acoustically, it really makes you appreciate the chord structure. Oh and all of the other suggestions sound on point as well.
