tbh half the reason its my favourite movie is because P was so sexy in it

Lets be honest, it's one of the only things that makes it bearable for those who arent that into it. That and Morris Day and Jerome :')

Good god, I really hope The Nostalgia critic doesn't get hold of this (or GB for that matter). He will tear it a new one. Nerds would call him a fool and laughing stock. And a new generation of fans won't appreciate the beauty that is Parade, which most people don't recognize as the OST.

He's already bashed Moonwalker (1988) and I think MJ is his favourite artist. Although, Batman (1989) is his favourite super hero movie of all time. Maybe the Prince soundtrack left an emotional impact on him back then.

Back to topic. Apart from some details this movie holds up very,very,very well. Stylistic that is. The hair, a greater portion of the clothing and the music. And Prince looks stunning! Fuck me, even the camera work and the black and white are somewhat redeeming. Sure, no Kubrick, but this was his first attempt at a "big budget" film and this meanwhile working almost solely on new experimental music. Come on man, that's almost unheard of. Yes, the script and acting should've been alot better but exclusively for eye candy this is the real deal. It's made in -86 and it still looks timeless.

The movie isn't as terrible as the critics made it out to be,but it has its share of flaws.I still like to watch it,from time to time.

I do like this movie in all honesty. It's tongue-in-cheek, fun, and a cool little plot. I really love the whole 'French movie & accordian-laced fancy baroque-pop' Prince had going in 1986. All of Prince's movies have faults, the ones I find in this one are,

A) the black and white. I get his point, but it would 3000x better in color, just much more fun and 'relatable'. Black and white movies bore me, personally. UTCM in color would have been = personality. B) He looked a teensy bit weird in the movie. I like his Parade look (the Mountains hat, especially), but some of his facial expressions, 250 lbs of mascara, and way-too-slicked hair looked strange. But who knows. Maybe it would have looked better in color. When it's black and white, his eyes look creepily dark and his skin too opposite. If he rocked the Lovesexy look in this movie.. oh lawd.

C) The plot can get downright silly at times. I love Tricky, but goddamn, Christopher could get on one's nerves with his drawling voice and "I love Mary, life's a parade, dig?" ideology. And the death scene? Corny, and didn't do the plot any justice.

The review was kind of harsh, but I do like this movie a lot. It's cool, and I mostly dig the whole theme and story. Nice change from PR.

I always felt it would have been cool if 'Mountains' was performed in the movie, and the ending had 'Heaven' playing. It's not only a catchy ending song, but fit in perfectly following Christopher's death. 'We will find heaven...' ah. one can only wish.

I tried too. I liked it the first time (IDK how), but recently I decided to re-watch it because I barely remembered the plot. Goddamn, it was awful. Prince was a weird lonely guy living in a nightclub basement.. with Tevin Campbell. This was the only Prince movie I got bored with and couldn't wait for its' ending. (The ending sucked balls, btw).

I loved this movie too. Prince is a natural beauty - from head to toe. No work needed on him, no not at at all.

Well that is true about the wrecka stow scene, but when I see the movie now, I cringe at how bad it was.

I always liked Under The Cherry Moon and didn't care who knew it. I just recently moved across state and had 2 get rid of all my VCR tapes. Including UTCM.

Anyway, concerning Graffiti Bridge. I remember liking(somewhat) the cinematography(?)of the movie, but the actual plot...nah.

In my mind UTCM is like Citizen Kane, compared to GB.

I enjoy it, it's fluffy fun, and I'm a bit of a Francophile anyway so I like the Nice setting. I think my favourite thing is just getting to hang out with bizarro-world jiggalo Prince and Jerome for a while, even though the dialogue and acting isn't great, to put it mildly, I still get a kick out of just watching the two goof around on screen. There should have been a Christopher Tracy tv series that acted as a prequel, detailing their zany adventures before they meet Mary. I'm only half joking. Seriously, I'm thinking of kickstarting that shit now.

It seems pretty broad to me with all the wierd touches only Prince could come up with at the time.

One scene in particular is the kids at the party. Hell the party!

It ain't the best Prince film, but it is my favourite. A logical (if unsuccessful) left-turn from the expected Purple Rain 2.
