They are all good to me but I never understand the popularity of some.

I dont get it on Empty Room (still considered unreleased, right?). Nice but not great to me

Moonbeam Levels, Mindbells, and Electric Intercourse (good thing The Beautiful Ones replaced in Purple Rain).

Their is no such thing as something being 'overrated' some people love these songs so they will rate them highly and others not so much so they will 'underrate' them. Art is subjective, why is this concept so hard to grasp?

For me it's "The Grand Progression". I've never understood all the praise this song gets. For me it's a snoozefest.

Art is subjective so give an opinion on the subject, that's the definition of subjectivity. What's so hard to grasp?

my point is that it doesn't make sense to give a thread a title which implicates the need for an objective answer. It's clear that the people that respond calling a song 'overrated' is because they don't like it and vice versa. The thread may aswell be called 'what unreleased song do you dislike that many others like' because the more someone seems to 'overrate' something is more they like it and the more you disagree with their taste.

"Cosmic Day" for the win. When ever I hear the tra-la-la-la part I also imagine a bunch of Anime characters skiping thru a forest.

because its a glib, psuedo intellectual, intentional misinterpretation of a commonly understood cultural idiom. Or semantics bullshit

PS. At the risk of splitting even more hairs, I must point out that you were supposed to used the word "there" at the beginning of that sentence; not "their". It would make much more sense that way.

Yes its great!!! but, i think Free on 1999 is great as well.. & it somewhat reminds me of 'ML'

Free isnt some Legendary song though, its just a nice album track.

Schoolyard does nothing for me at all. I know it's a favorite of most people.

How could I forget to mention "Cosmic Day"? Probably because it's such a forgettable song

In the days of Housequake.com this song was probably the most talked about and overhyped song in the Prince world. Every now and then you'd get people posting things like 'OH MY GOD I JUST HEARD THE FULL COSMIC DAY!" and this song was just praised to the heavens. When the snippets finally started circulating back in 2007/2008 and I heard it, it was probably the biggest let down I've ever experienced with a Prince song ever. Now, people will say that "it's hard to judge a song on just a 1 minute sample", but I've heard the 2 minute sample and it's even more painful to listen to

I am not saying it's a bad song, but according to some people it's the best he has ever done.

It's just a good song, no more no less.

The Gold Experience is a fine masterpiece.

Adonis and Bathsheba has never done it for me , some org members stated that it should have even be released as a single in 86 , if Mountains flopped then this would have sunk .

I've been fortunate enough to have discussed this song with someone who was very close to Prince during his younger years.. I was told that the song is factual..

thats why its one of my favs..

I personally love "wouldnt you love to love me". Prince' version with the beat box & prominent bass.

i don't think "Schoolyard" is very overrated here on the org. i mean, i love that

song. always have. but it's been mentioned perhaps 3 times since i first got on

the org about 394 years ago and when it is mentioned it pops up on lists of

'worst ever' songs i love it though.

It is Empty Room for sure...or maybe he released this at some point..I don't remember, but extremely overrated and not even a good song.

Extra Lovable is another one although at least it is kinda good song.
