Here is what happened according to the book Purple Reign by Liz Jones,
"When Prince split with Fargnoli after Lovesexy, Cat had to take sides," said Tony Mitchell. "She had seen what happened when you stay a Prince girl. Do I stay with Prince and be in his shadow? Her solo album was distributed through Warner, but Fargnoli as her manager signed her to his own label." Next page, When she parted company first with Warner and then with Fargnoli, Cat went back to dancing in clubs -- at Prince's Glam Slam nightclub in LA until it closed down. She then moved back home to Chicago. She would choreograph the odd performance for Prince, such as "The Beautiful Experience," a TV special for the album The Gold Experience."... Last time I spoke to Cat," says Prince, "she walked up to Mayte and me and said to us "I like you two dancing together, but she'll never be what I was with you." The very last time we spoke," he laughs.

it was me that posted on another thread about jerome leaving and having to show cat the ropes (live show) before he left the revolution. i posted on that thread too. i apologize for not being clear on my post. cat wasn't fired she left, she wanted to do her own thing and prince supported her decision and wanted to help but she wanted to do it all on her own and wanted steve fargnoli to be her manager.

Don't believe in the Liz Jones book. There are WAY TOO MANY inaccuracies. For instance, in the quoted narrative here,it says that Cat's album was "distributed by Warners." Um, exactly WHEN was Cat's album released?
It wasn't. If you can't get simple factual information correct, then how are we gonna believe the rest of your stories in the book?

Cat never released an album, and certainly not for Warners. In 1988,Prince began working on a planned solo album for Cat.He gave her three tunes from his vaults---"A Man Named Jesus","Cat And Mouse" and "9 Lives"---but the album never materialized and she left the Prince camp in early 1989.She hired another producer, and started work on a solo album that was to be titled 'I Am Energy'.A single called "CatWoman" was actually released, but it bombed and the album was never released.

So, does anyone know why the Sign O' The Times/Lovesexy band re-evolved? Did Sheila, Boni, and Fink all leave or did they get the boot as well? Also, I noticed that Wally and Brooks weren't in the Lovesexy band anymore? Did Prince no longer need their services as well?
