Am I the only one who thinks "Affirmation III" is the killer track? Coupled with Way Back Home, this music is a genuine new direction.
The strings, the chords, the wierd thrashing sounds, the keys and the stunning vocals. I love it. .

I like it ... no doubt. Its quite a bit different from other stuff he has done before. I love the female vocal. I think "Time" before it is equally strong
filler... please thats foolishness
Enjoy on

I think it's fantastic. It's my favorite ending to a Prince album since the rushing water at the end of Lovesexy. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

it's my favorit track off both albums. and i'm still convinced that he recorded/intended it originally as a single track. . affirmation I & II - way back home - affirmation III . they flow into eachother too well not to have been so. . i just wonder why he cut them up? . now that i'm used to the album sequencing it's ok, i guess, but on my first listen, i was so floored and in such a stellar space, that once it ended, the change into FunkNroll was extremely jarring and unpleasant. once FunknRoll gets rolling it's ok, but that intro, after "way back home"... nah man. . however, those are all excursions into the realm of what if. . fact is, this track/these tracks are absolutely brilliant. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

actually, the closest thing to these tracks that he's ever done would be the first half of "digital garden" off The Rainbow Children. that's what it reminded me of a bit at first, except this hits a lot harder. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

It reminds me of M83, and that's a very good thing.

Way Back Home, Affirmation III, and Time... they remind me (favorably) of the attempts by The Dream & The Weeknd to echo Prince. And here is Prince, on that rare occasion, out doing his emulators. It reminds me of Apoptygma Berzerk's "Welcome To Earth" album from fifteen years ago and that's not really a good thing.

I never would have thought such a thing, but I was just listening and it's nice. Still learning the album, though. My Legacy

That was my first thought - similar to Digital Garden. Been listening to these 2 on repeat driving to work, really hypnotic and some rare personal lyrics. AS others said quite unlike most his other stuff. Brilliant

I like it but I can't call it the killer track. Surprising that you say the killer track on a Prince album is one with no Prince singing! Way Back Home shares the same musical themes but also has the amazing vocals. RIP

I can understand why Affirmation III doesn't follow Way Back Home, it's far too similar and works as a nice call back at the end of the album. I find Affirmation III a bit too samey when played back to back with Way Back Home. RIP

FragileUndertow said: I dont think its Killer But you'd be destroying the entire point of the album! It's about a man trying to find his place in the world and learn to love somebody and at the end he's found himself. It can't be anywhere else than on the end of the album.

I really dig the track. Prince.....welcomed BACK! FOOLS multiply when WISE Men & Women are silent.

I'm surprised to see so much attention on Affirmation3 - it's basically an outro. Don't get me wrong. It's great if only because Prince hasn't really gone in this direction for some time.
Clearly affiermation 1&2 + WBH + Affirmation3 form one long song. WBH is the only part that you could realistically call a song. With Affirmation 1&2 forming an intro. WBH is the song and Affirmation3 is the outro.
That doesn't mean I think it's a throwaway track by any means. It's a really nice way to close the album. I'd have liked it more if this song finally dropped. But it's obviously supposed to be more ambiant than banger.

Now thats its all sinking in I sure wish FunknRoll didnt break up the killer vibe of Affirmation I & II and Way Back Home...

totally agree, its different, and its a step outside of things like UKNOW and Breakfast and This could Be Us, to me that is where the album hits a lul but the beginning and ending are very strong "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
