SNL? That's it?!? Fuck. I was hoping for new scented products. I've run out of Get Wild and 3121. I was hoping to start wearing Art Official Musk.

the bold part - my thoughts exactly... sad

i was hoping for some news about the tour that's "forthcoming" according to DR. F.

I'm not near as disappointed as most of you. It's great news that he's finally getting out there promoting the album. Plus it's gonna be awesome to see him on SNL with Chris rock.

The tour is coming...

The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

4th day of November, we need a purple high...

It IS a Tuesday, so what are the odds that Purple Rain will be reissued that day?

I can see a well-placed commercial during SNL that promotes all 3 albums at once.

since he's got two new albums out and possibly the Purple Rain reissue coming,

he'll probably perform "The X's Face" with 3rdEyeGirl miming their instruments

"official press release" :

"Music icon Prince returns to the SNL stage on November 1st marking his third time as musical guest. The evening also marks former SNL cast member Chris Rock's return as host.

The November 1st performance promises to be one for the record books and will feature his band, 3RDEYEGIRL (Guitarist Donna Grantis, drummer Hannah Ford Welton and bassist Ida Nielsen).

This is the first television performance from Prince since the release of his two chart-topping albums, ART OFFICIAL AGE and PLECTRUMELECTRUM, on September 30th. ART OFFICIAL AGE, Prince's solo album, bowed in at #1 on Billboard's R&B Chart while PLECTRUMELECTRUM, featuring Prince's new band 3RDEYEGIRL, debuted at #1 on the Rock Chart, making Prince the first artist in over a decade to debut two albums in the Top 10 at the same time. The New York Times declared, "Prince at his best doesn't just collect and recreate genres; he smashes them together."

2014 has been one of the most exciting years yet for the prodigious musical talent. The two new studio albums marked a historic return to Warner Bros. Records, Prince's original label home. The renewed partnership came after the announcement that Warner Bros. Records returned to Prince the master recordings of his pioneering '80s albums, including Dirty Mind, 1999, Purple Rain and Sign 'O' the Times. In April, NPG Music Publishing was launched, marking the first time Prince's vast publishing catalog has been independently controlled and administered in over twenty years. In the live arena, together with 3RDEYEGIRL, Prince rocked UK and European audiences into a frenzy with his sell-out 'Hit & Run' tours, generating some of the most significant critical acclaim of his career. The Guardian declared, "These are performances by one of the greatest funk-rock bands ever." All of this in addition to headlining and curating the Essence Festival on July 4th in New Orleans and a much talked about appearance on hit TV show 'New Girl'. 2014 has underlined that Prince continues to innovate and surprise, thrilling his fans and welcoming a whole new audience in the process

The @purplessence twitter account got our expectations high.

Only THEY were tweeting it was tour news, going off Doc's news last week of tour info forthcoming.

Telling us we are going to need babysitters and practicly begging us to follow them. The account has had nothing and what should be cool news of him being on SNL is highly underwhelming. Don't promote so hard or get us excited for tour news. So done. If #PaisleyParkOfficial, it still really remains to be seen. So upset right now.

Let's be honest though, It's possible they may announce the tour on the show, how better to promote a big stateside tour than SNL?

I bet this person who won the trip to paisely park is Pissssseddd doesnt looka like a show is going down this weekend there

They will be using the SNL performances as a launch for the tour. Typically when artists have a big national TV performance it is followed with a tour announcement shortly after. Look for Prince and the girls to get out of the harsh Minnesota winter in January and visit your city!

Yes, the problem was with that @purplessence account (which I have now unfollowed). There were no tweets from @3rdeyegirl saying to expect a tour announcement.

This is good news, just not the news we were expecting based on all the hype from @purplessence, which seems to have been aimed at getting more followers for that account. Now that account has lost credibility.

I wish the SNL show would be sooner before AOA falls of the charts like PE already did.

The 2nd week numbers are in, if he did the show next week or the week after he could boost the sales and get back in the top 20 again. But in one month he'll surely be out of the top 100.

The 1989 appearance was for the 15th anniversary special, which aired on a Sunday and is not considered an episode.

That information actually came from a Warner Brother's press release, he was just passing along the info.

Yes. He should've done SNL this week or maximum next week before AOA completely falls off the chart. AOA is now at #24 and PE is already out of the TOP 50 in only the 2nd week.

Here's what bothers ME:

Prince died of an overdose of the drug Fentanyl. Of which, it is very highly fucking likely that he never even knew he'd taken.
