I bet they are there to celebrate with Donna's friends and family. Her song performed on SNL kind of a big deal!!

He must have found out I couldn't make the concert and decided to post-pone! lol

But seriously, it was just a rumour and was never confirmed. Looks like the press just ran with it.

I'm with Giovanni777, there must be or must have been something planned. They just don't go around setting up all his equipment for no reason.

a rumour started by the band and perpetuated by funkenberry and ticketmaster, with clear signs of a prince show being setup. It really looks like Prince was going to play, but maybe got stuck in NYC or something.

10000Degrees

I was in line - I spoke with a security guard and the guy responsible for driving Prince and the girls about tonight's performance.

Shows were scheduled for tonight and tomorrow. Unfortunately, from what the driver of the van shared, there's been a family incident for one of Prince's in house security guards.

That is all.

All shows this week and the two that were scheduled for Sunday are canceled.

Prince's Band 3RDEYEGIRL Apologizes for Confusion Around Rumored Toronto Show

By Karen Bliss, Toronto | November 04, 2014 11:06 PM EST

Prince's band 3RDEYEGIRL released an apology to their fans regarding arumored Prince show in Toronto on Tuesday (Nov. 4) that saw hundreds line up in the cold and rain with the hopes of obtaining a ticket for a secret concert at Massey Hall.

"We are thankful for the outpouring of love and support and apologize for any confusion surrounding the anticipated performance tonight," reads the statement sent to Billboard from Schure Media Group.

"Our technical crew is set up in Toronto to rehearse lighting and sound for possible future performances. As Live Nation and Massey Hall announced earlier today, there is not a scheduled performance tonight; there was never confirmation of a show.

"We love and thank our fans in Toronto. To all those who lined up and travelled in to the city for tickets, we hope to see you soon and are looking forward to bringing our show to Toronto in the future."

On Monday night, in the early morning hours, 3RDEYEGIRL had tweeted "4th day of November, we need a purple high: OTNOROT [Toronto spelled backwards] CALLING…" A page for a Prince show on Nov. 4 had shown up on the Ticketmaster website, and fans saw furniture and white flowers pass through the venue doors Tuesday. Massey Hall even put out barricades on the sidewalk to keep fans in an orderly line. A few people, likely from the crew, sent photos of the 3RDEYEGIRL drum kit set up on the stage, which circulated on social media. But no confirmation was ever given. Some fans lined up for 12 hours, with no one in authority telling them they were wasting their time despite all the media coverage, social media and email enquiries.

Finally, Live Nation tweeted, "Sorry, Prince will not be performing tonight or tomorrow night." The crowd was told to go home at 3:30 p.m., but some still stuck around until 6 hoping the box office would open. It didn't.

Its nearly 3000 in capacity, there was barely 800 in the queue apparently so sounds more like it was pulled because of lack of interest after it was mentioned thet will do two shows.

I think the Hit & Run concept will struggle over there, on weekdays especially.

Since when have they announced where they will be doing Rehearsals?

If its not from lack of interest, its either a Promoter issue or Working Visa problems.

Hard to believe them when they are saying that there was never any shows planned, just made themselves sound a bit foolish lol

where do you get 800 from? If anything that sounds high! That's 800 nutty people who skipped work to go line up hours in advance for a concert based on a rumour. Or if you're measuring the line after around 2:30, that's 800 nutty people who stayed in line even after security told them numerous times that there was no show! My guess is that a lot more fans would show up after 5:00 if it hadn't been cancelled.

But if the point you're making is that hit n run is a stupid format, I agree. Even with my schedule-free grad student lifestyle, part of me still groaned when I heard prince was in town this morning. "I guess i'm not doing any work today. I guess I'm doing this all day instead..."

I believe it was probably less but I didnt want to under estimate haha. But yeah, the ones in london they managed 1000-2000 in the queue but london is a massive place with a population of 8 million compared to is it around 2-3m Toronto?

It's a stupid format... but then on the other hand these are his best shows because his setlist is more aimed at clear fans rather than what he would do in an arena being primarily hits. So if he does do any just make sure your in that queue biggrin
