He's got 100 songs easily he doesnt sing in concert anymore. Do you think he regrets recording them?

You would have to ask Prince, but my guess is no. As for not playing the songs as much- could be that they remind him of his x-wife and he has to play the more known hits in the big arena tours. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment |

I think those songs remind him of his ex-wife as well and perhaps that's a reason why we don't hear much from that era anymore. Trolls be gone! |

Prince hasnt played anything really from Emancipation on any tour, he almost didnt play any of it when the album was out which showed the lack of confidence in the material and or the band at the time.

This thread might end up in the politics and religion section but I am just wondering why Prince never performed One of Us that much and he hasn't performed it in several years that I know of. What made him do the remake in the first place if he just up and decided that he was hardly going to sing it. I know there are MANY songs that he has that he doesn't perform but given the nature of the song One of Us, I am wondering if he stopped singing it because it was considered as blasphemous by many people. What do you all think? Does Prince regret performing that song?
It's not blasphemous. A query is posed, not a statement.
'What if God was one of us'.
If it was called 'God IS one of us' well, maybe. Even believers in God should be able to see the difference. |

That could be true but I think it's in part because he doesn't want to be reminded about that time in his life. Trolls be gone! |

He is not a JW, for so many reasons already discussed in many prior threads. Folks may 'think' he is, but his actions dictate otherwise. Like all things in Princes life, he takes a little bit of this, a little bit of that, throws it into a purple tumbler, and what comes out is law, his law, a law/belief system that works for him. Which is all good imo, whatever floats your boat.
So no, I don't think he regrets that song at all.
The concept of the 3rd Eye alone would be enough for any JW to not associate with him, nor, acknowledge his affiliation to them.
Peace

ALthough I did refer to him as a Witness up above, you're right that much of what he puts forth doesn't really fit with JW thought. For a few years he may have hung more tightly to Witness thinking, though it may always have been more an important source for him rather than a complete buy-in on his part. But Rainbow Children (only a few years into his association with JW's, however deep or shallow that association may be) is clearly a hodgepodge of all sorts of stuff--I like the "is law, his law" description. It captures what puts me off of some songs. Even if it's a dogma of his own creation, when he presents it dogmatically, I can't enjoy it AS MUCH (as messed up as I think 1+1+1=3 is, I'm still loving the groove).
As of 2013, though, Larry showed up on at least one 3rd Eye TV broadcast--so at least one JW was still around at that time. |

Thanks for clearing that up, I had been wondering how long it's been since Larry has been on the scene. Trolls be gone! |

Somebody's somebody is a hit to me. Just remember sometimes it takes time to appreciate things. A good example is The Wizard Of Oz. That wasn't a huge success until the re-release in theaters and most importantly when they started playing it on TV. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment |
