Results on the 1st day are always higher than the rest of the week, when it's the release of huge artist. I wouldn't bet on the top 10 for AOA, no need to talk about PE...Really disappointing sales. The previous albums (Musicology, 3121) charted also in the top 10, and 3 weeks later they were out of the top 75. By the way, why opening numerous new thread, there was already a topic dedicated to PE and AOA charts ? Must we open a new thread for every country in the world, for each week ?

I'd say that was a pretty disappointing result.

We should probably break it down by counties/states to get a proper picture. Then we can celebrate if Prince is number one on a particualar location. If Prince is 1 in Hertfordshire then we can petition the official facebook page for a concert. RIP

I gave FNR to one of the DJ's on Zambia's premier radio station - Radio Phoenix. He has been playing the shit out of it all week. Unfortunately, Zambia doesnt do charts as no one buys music here, they just download it illigally. However, if someone can collate illigal downloads into a chart, Prince may turn out to be doing very well over here. This can only mean one thing - an Art Official Africa tour. Bring it on!

Hang on, you say he's speaking cobblers then agree with him that the end of week positions will be lower? If you're going to agree with someone you probably shouldn't start out by saying they are talking cobblers as it makes you look like you are also talking cobblers. RIP

Just had a quick look. AOA is being torrented but the highest seeded torrent has 157 seeds.

Can't see AOA or PE in the itunes top 100 albums. Although VBO-Prince is at #54.

AOA is at #4 PE is at #21
Prince's sales are still impressive, he is still in the same range among the newer artists today. Record sales are at an all time low in the last 5 years, 2014 being the lowest. But he still manages to be in top 10 after how many years as an artist? All those people in the charts now a days, can they still pull that off in 20-30 years time? Chris Browns most recent album flopped in he is still considered a "new hip" artist.

also with the expection of very few current artists such as beyonce, eminem, adele and taylor swift.
no one has achieved multi platinum sales any more for their albums like in the past.

Maybe the website only updates daily or something. (I don't have iTunes installed). Was just looking on the website. Couldn't see either album. They still aren't there...

Actually that is a lot of seeds and probably a quick download. Most people don't seed after grabbing what they're after either. We're at a point where diehard fans buy, the rest will just download illegally.
Just as well Prince treats his fans with respect and dignity isn't it? We'll all buy it legit Im sure.

I was half wrong this time : PE is outside the top ten, bu AOA is in it.
AOA #8 PE #11
Had he released PE in february it would have been #1.

Number 8 and 11 is not very impressive for new Prince albums.
It doens't matter if sales overall are very low, it's the same for every album, number 8 just isn't very good.
This is the UK, where Prince is very popular.

I'd say it's awesome chart placements given the circumstances. People were expecting #1 and #2? Warners should be congratulated on doing the best they could with what little they were given. Posters, magazine ads and reviews is all the promotion they've had to work with - as usual Prince gives zero fucks about putting the work in when it comes to promotion.

From a chart page:
Apparently now a willing 'slave' of Warner Music, with which he had an acrimonious split in 1996, Prince rekindles his relationship with the company by releasing two simultaneous albums, both of which enter the Top 20 this week. Solo album Art Official Age leads the way, debuting at number eight (10,813 sales), while Plectrumelectrum - a collaboration with 3rdeyegirl - debuts at number 11 (7,708 sales). Officially the 33rd and 34th studio albums in the prolific 36 year studio career of the diminutive 56 year old, they secure his first Top 20 placings for new albums since 2006's 3121 debuted and peaked at number nine on sales of 37,130 copies, though compilation Ultimate reached number six in 2007. Including compilations, live discs and pseudonymous efforts, Prince has placed 27 albums in the Top 75, of which 19 have made the Top 10. Two of his albums - 2007's Planet Earth and 2010's 20Ten showed Prince's displeasure with major record companies, being released in the UK only as free covermounts with the Mail On Sunday and The Daily Mirror respectively, while other albums have been released only via his website. His renewed relationship with Warner Music is expected to see some of his old and out-of-print albums return in expanded, remastered editions, with the classic Purple Rain soundtrack expected to be released in a 30th anniversary edition before the end of the year.
