Just WHO is the musician, staying with Prince for the longest time? (and also, the shortest)?

Maybe Rhonda Smith stayed for the longest time?

or, maybe Candy Dulfer? during the 90's & the 00's?

Or, maybe Doctor Fink during the 80's & early 90s?

It sure wasn't that female asian(?) keyboard player during Musicology, she stayed for about a week or so, right? - I have forgot her name, and I don't actually know why she did not stay any longer?

Oh - I have found this:

"her name is RAD and she "helped out" with Prince's mini-tour in Hong Kong, Australia and Hawaii in late 2003".

Maybe she stayed longer than a week then?

Kat Dyson was not there very long either I believe. Emancipation days, she played the guitar with her teeth during the Emancipation Celebration broadcast, although I am sure that was BS and just for show.

Morris Hayes was with him for quite awhile. 92-2012.

Sheila E., Eric Leeds, Michael B, and Sonny T. It was cool how they each came back well after the original runs.

I'm pretty sure Morris Hayes put in the most time. After Rad, Kat Dyson was probably the shortest.

Since we're saying musician, not band member, it has to be Clare Fischer.

The first keyboard player Gayle Chapman didn't hang around very long either.

I believe it's Morris Hayes, but he wasn't always in the band during the 00s.

Shortest!

I will go with Patrice Rushen. She played keyboards during Prince's Saturday Night Live "Electric Chair" performance in 1989. That's it. Only one performance.

Longest - definitely Mr. Hayes.

The shortest one he's worked with might be Ingrid Chavez.

Patrice, with a single per4mance, was definitely the shortest. Thx for reminding me BTW I'd totally forgotten it was her! Then most likely RAD (she did a Live In Japan album with Eric BTW that's gorgeous, with a Madhouse cover). It's funny BTW, I know she contributed For You and they'd met at this time but how and why she was brought in the boat in 89 is a big mystery to me!

.

Candy was there only for 2 tours though she made guest appearances before and after, so no she didn't saty very long.

.

Funk was there for 12 years. After it becomes more complicated because for the last 15 years or so, musicians are often in and out and in again, so how do we define who's played the longest?

.

One thing I really want to know one day is kind of a table of his bandmembers over the years but IDK when I'll find the time to do this ^^

Surely some of these randoms whose names we can't remember that have been announced as being in the NPG are the shortest.

Ronie Bruner Jr., who used to play with George Duke and Chaka, did one show in 2013, too, so he's standing next to Patrice for the shortest tenure!

As others have stated, I'm thinking maybe Morris Hayes has the longest run as an actual band member.

Kirky J might have the longest association (thanked on PE, so still active)

Eric Leads had a really long run (anyone know the actual years?)

Michael B Nelson is credited on AOA, so that would be 20+ years also

It was never exclusive to just band members but associated artists as well.

I looked up on Prince Vault, his name was Chris James. Apparently he was on guitar. I found that performance so odd. Hannah and John Blackwell were on drums, and Andy Allo was in the band as well. A very transitional period, from the W2A live era, to the 3rdEyeGirl era.

Chris James was also the Paisley recording engineer for a few years and credited on PE and AOA

When I saw him in Chicago in 2012, I barely knew any of them. Or none at all. This was the debut of the 47 piece horn section, which was a mess. And whoever else was in the band... they weren't meshing well to begin with.

What about the guy who played (mimed/mimicked) keyboards in the NPG in the Graffiti Bridge movie? It was right after Dr.Fink left, so was he a stand-in? Who the hell was he?

Get your facts straight. Fink was on the Nude Tour, which is the reason he wasn't in GB: he was preparing the keyboards for that tour. (Though I think he used that as an excuse not to bother with that disaster of a movie.)

Rose Ann Dimalanta: Rad joined Prince and his band, the New Power Generation, for his Musicology tours in 2003 and 2004

Rose Ann Dimalanta, a.k.a. rad, grew up in Oakland, California and began playing piano at the age of 4. In 1990, she completed her jazz studies at U.C. Berkeley. By this time, she had already played alongside Bay Area jazz musicians like Pete Escovedo and was recognized as a pianist. In 1988, she met Sound Engineering student Michael Kirsch at the College for Recording Arts in San Francisco. The two were married in 1991 and Rose Ann moved to Kirsch's hometown Hamburg, Germany. In 1992, she started her solo project with the first release, Radified, on her husband's record label, Soulciety Records. The record instantly won critical acclaim and sold over 50,000 units independently.[citation needed] The following years brought collaborations with Tower of Power, Roger Troutman, Howard Johnson, Marc Russo of the Yellow Jackets, Sheila E. and others. After leaving the label Soulciety Records in 1996, both Rad and Kirsch moved back to the San Francisco Bay Area and started attracting musicians to the project, including jazz guitarist Ray Obiedo and Tower of Power drummer David Garibaldi. Rad joined Prince and his band, the New Power Generation, for his Musicology tours in 2003 and 2004. She left the New Power Generation to focus more on her new born daughter and finish work on the album East Babe which was released on hers and Kirsch's label 7 Bridges Recordings in 2007. A live album "Live in Japan" was released in early 2008. She was joined by Patrice Rushen on her next studio album "Getting Down Is Free". After a brief stint with the Prime Time Band on NBC's Jay Leno show, she returned to live touring in 2009.

Live: Known for delivering electrifying live performances with her band, rad. repeatedly sold out London's Jazz Caf?and Paris' Hot Brass Club, and in the early 90's shared the stage with such luminaries as Incognito, Maceo Parker, Carleen Anderson, Raw Stylus, and ex-James Brown's right hand man Bobby Byrd. In 1995, she performed in San Francisco for the United Nations 50th Anniversary Celebration-Festival and co-hosted the popular "Groove" show on Euro-VH1. rad. toured Japan with the drummer Sheila E. which in 2002 led to Southern California performances with Stevie Wonder, Sheryl Crow, Wendy & Lisa, Mick Fleetwood and grammy award winning gospel singer Yolanda Adams. Thanks to a recommendation from NPG drummer John Blackwell, who listens to rad. since 1993, rad. joined Prince's band in mid 2003 and toured with Prince & the NPG until spring 2004.
