So far, yes, but then again , I didn´t buy that many CDs this year.

It is almost a tie between AOA and Banks´s Goddess album though. The deluxe version of her album is an album I can listen to for days.

AOA is a very strong album but could´ve been a tad better if he had added maybe two or three songs in the style of Clouds, U Know or Time to it. I like the light, breezy modern RnB feel of AOA and could live without the first song, which I strongly dislike. Also, Funkroll sounds a bit oddly placed and I would have loved to see Groovy Potential on this album.

But yes, it is definitely a good album that has me smiling ever since I first listened to it.

For the price I paid (18 euros=22 US dollars) a nice booklet or at least a jewel case would´ve been nice though. The cover is even thinner and cheaper than a digipak, and I usually like digipaks.

But hey, I love the AOA album. lol

Lenny Kravitz Strut is pretty strong, Jack White Lazaretto is also top notch. AOA is a completely different sound. It's hard to compare it to anything. For me probably not, purely due to the number of slow jams on AOA. That said it's a superb album. Really am curious to know how much input came from Josh. It can't be denied, Prince hasn't sounded this fresh for over a decade.

It's a tie: AOA, St. Vincent's self-titled album, and Familiars by the Antlers.

I think it is, so far, with Hart's "Daydreamer" being the number two.

Change it one more time..

I'd put Bernhoft's "Islander" on the list.

Body Count Manslaughter is my best of the year. #2 would be Harts Daydreamer. Neither of Prince's wuld make my top 10. I do have Liv Warfield in my top 5 though.

I don't know yet--St. Vincent's awfully strong... and I still haven't heard some things that might do it for me.

.

I can't definitely say no, though.

It's up there. But St. Vincent's self tittled is superb record. Damien Rice looks like he might have a great record as well. It's definitely up there though.

I really cant decide on a "best album of the year" nor would I want to judge AOA literally 2 days after it was released.

Lets face it. You take somebody home for a root. If asked 30 minutes after orgasming you were asked was that the best root you have ever had, chances are you will say yes....and then 2 weeks later something better comes along. Get my drift?

I will say this though. Both AOA and PE highlight something really strong for me. Prince sounds refreshed and sounds like he is enjoying making music again. Some of his more recent albums have sounded like Prince just going through the motions. But these 2 albums sound like he has rediscovered a love for recording new music.

If he can keep the momentum going, and I dare say open his mind to outside influences and opinions regarding production, trends, sounds and all of that, there is every chance the next album he releases will be better again.Living life and interacting with the people and community around you can have and does have an enormous influence on the music one creates.

Talk to me after the Flying Lotus album comes out, but so far - AOA is near the top of the list!

There have been many, many great albums this year. Me'Shell Ndegeocello's Comet, Come to Me is a truly amazing piece of work, too ...

Hell naw. It's a horrible album. From what I've heard so far, Harts and Lenny Kravitz are the ones with a new album that's slammin'.

I haven't heard Art Official Age yet.

I have got Lenny's and I like it, I think it's he's best since Are You Gonna Go My Way, but I would still only rate it 3/5
The Harts album is pretty damn good for a debut I'd rate that 3/5 as well.

My favorite album this year so far would probably be Kimbra's Golden Echo closely followed by St Vincent and Plectrumelectrum.

I strongly suspect Art Official Age will take the top spot based on the comments on this board. really looking forward to hearing it tomorrow.

Kimbra's album is VERY good and actually compliments AOA. I'm really enjoying playing these 2 CD's back to back.

album of the year will be U2 or Beyonce or Coldplay .. even tho they are all crap .. even if prince was as popular as those bands i don't find AOA to be that solid of a record .. definitely some high points but a lot of filler too .. the only record i can even think of that came out and was new and was really good was ray lamontagne .. the pixies record wasnt bad but certainly not album of the year material in the pixies cannon .. surfer rosa .. doolittle both album of the year material .. my favorite record that even came out was the niel young acoustic cellar door show .. it is a super old show but it came out this year and its better than anything i have heard on the radio or elsewhere this year

It's a close race bettwen AOA, Plectrumelectrum and Morrissy's "Word Peace is None of Your Business" for me.

Either AOA or Pharrell's Girl both funky as hell though I also have a soft spot for Awesome Mix Vol. 1 which probably doesn't qualify as it doesn't have any original songs.

I think I still prefer Girl cos some of the tracks remind me of classic Stevie Wonder like my all time favourite album Innervisions.
