Hell naw. It's a horrible album. From what I've heard so far, Harts and Lenny Kravitz are the ones with a new album that's slammin'.

I haven't heard Art Official Age yet. I have got Lenny's and I like it, I think it's he's best since Are You Gonna Go My Way, but I would still only rate it 3/5 The Harts album is pretty damn good for a debut I'd rate that 3/5 as well. My favorite album this year so far would probably be Kimbra's Golden Echo closely followed by St Vincent and Plectrumelectrum. I strongly suspect Art Official Age will take the top spot based on the comments on this board. really looking forward to hearing it tomorrow.

I need to pick up Lenny's and Kimbra's albums. Ive just heard individual songs off of them, but everyone says Kimbra's is really good, and while I'd given up on Lenny's albums over 10 years ago after many subpar albums, I'm going to give him another try.

Change it one more time..

Not even close. The Kate Bush album is much better.

The U2 album is as good (and won't even crack the top 10).

These new Prince albums are good. But won't even crack the top 10 for best.

(not necessarily in this order)

Chromeo - White Women
Moodymann - Moodymann
Pharrell - Girl
Teebs - E S T A R A
Tokimonsta - Desiderium
Andre Cymone - The Stone
Fdeluxe - AM Static
La Roux - Trouble in Paradise

Prince will not be on this list unless he releases an instrumental album, his vocal delivery and songwriting no longer appeal to me (except the single "U Know" from AOA)
I knew a girl named Nikki.

SAM SMITH- IN THE LONELY HOUR is by far the best album of the year. Is pure genius and true. He needs a grammy for album of the year, and best new artist. Unfortunately Prince's albums are up there for my Most anticipated, but it definately doesn't compare to Sam Smiths.

RODSERLING

AOA is the worst album of the year,AND THE WORST ALBUM OF PRINCE.

Full of eurodance music of 1996, and dull rnb. No melodies to be found anywhere in the album.

Those people who say here this is the best since TGE, and that Emancipation, Batman, Diamonds and pearls, and TRC are crappy albums, are totally out of their minds.

Not for me. It's a good album though. Possibly the St Vincent album is, or some roots-y thing that has nothing to do with pop music. There's a few albums out over the next month or two that are in the running as well...

Even though it was released last year, I'm just discovering them this year: J. Roddy & The Business album Essential Tremors is terrific. I'm just really feeling that album right now, even more so than AOA unfortunately, but I'm still very much enjoying AOA.

I was scratching my head over that comment too, because I know I never miss Kate's releases. Unless he's had access to things that are not public yet.

She did debut one new song in the London shows, but I don't think that's enough for an "album of the year" award! Concert of the year however... Yes! For sure!

Judas Priest - Redeemer of Souls
Morrissey - World Peace Is None Of Your Business
Jack White - Lazaretto

AOA album of the year?

Lenny Kravitz Strut is pretty strong, Jack White Lazaretto is also top notch. AOA is a completely different sound. It's hard to compare it to anything. For me probably not, purely due to the number of slow jams on AOA. That said it's a superb album. Really am curious to know how much input came from Josh. It can't be denied, Prince hasn't sounded this fresh for over a decade.

They Played Lenny Kravitz' new song on BBC London over the weekend. It was shockingly bad

The best album I've heard this year is Dirty Loops' Loopified. It is a groundbreaking mix of modern pop and a jazz/funk infused musicianship. This is the future of pop music.

I haven't heard AOA yet. I'm waiting for the official release.

'The Golden Echo' by Kimbra is mine so far. AOA is totally refreshing to me, though. After repeated listens it may replace her.

I think the first song on 'The Golden Echo' is the best song Prince never wrote. It is obviously influenced by him. It's called 'Teen Heat' and it's awesome.

No hate here for AOA. I'm very happy with it.

I like Prince's album so far, but St. Vincent's album definitely takes the cake for me!

After (just about) every song you say to yourself something like: god damn that was so fucking good nod

I would have said yes, but listening to Cohen's 'Popular Problems' and I really can't decide between the two, probably depends on my mood.

It's shaping up to be, maybe tied with Ryan Adams. I'll admit it took a few listens to AOA before it grew on me, haven't had that from a Prince album since Rainbow Children. With his last few it's been 'instant like' then decline, not the other way round.

Lenny's album has it's moments but it's not really very original. I really like Sex, The Chamber, New York City and Strut, the rest is ok, apart from Happy Birthday which is just boring and lyrically even really really bad for Lenny, it's just really a list of nice things you could doom your birthday. I think it must be a joke.

Ha! I'm talking about musicians coming back to the forefront of music. Almost every pop album out there is about production and less about composition and musicianship. For example, Maroon 5's sound is so dumbed down they don't even sound like a band. Dirty Loops have found a balance between accessible pop and a high level of playing.

I still haven't listened to Cohen--I need to be in the right mood before I listen (and have the right environment).
