2/5 Sorry but my first impressions are: cheezy production, i wish he would have used a more experienced producer because the material is just not very strong. The best song is Breakfast which is not saying much about this album. Sounds very similar to 20Ten but i think 20Ten is a bit more focused song structure wise. For being the first album in 4 years this has been really dissapointing.

4 out 5 . The most cohesive album in years. Which reminds me of the 80's output. That being said are there any classics on the album? Need to listen to the album more. Golden Standard?????

I can't really make up my mind about the album to be honest. I do genuinely think it is a step in the right direction ( a different sound and a little more experimentation), but something in the back of my mind keeps nagging about exactly what you've just mentioned here.
Stick with it. Listen on headphones and let the songs drill into your head and appreciate the classic Prince touches. It's his best album in decades and I wouldn't say that lightly. New Power...Slide!!! don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....

3.5 out of 5 - As solid as the leading 00's albums, but claiming it its the best think since Lovesexy makes me wonder if I have a difference version of The Gold Experience, Symbol and The Rainbow Children than everyone else; expect the early fan reviews are due to being starved for 4 years, rather than the pure quality....expect this one to drop down all time lists pretty soon. .

Thank Goodness that new song they played on Yahoo was not on the album. Ick. The girl was pretending to groove to it. All you others say Hell Yea!!

4/5 I just can't stop listening to it! Love it! Interviewer: What's it like to be the greatest guitarist in the world?
Clapton: I don't know, you'd better ask Prince

4.5/5
Prince, at 56, has finally learned to "Letitgo" again. Letting in his studio the first (and young) collaborators of quality since Wendy and Lisa, he made precisely cut avant-garde/pop gems. For the first time, the spiritual messages through voice-overs aren't annoying, hence the Lovesexy echo you get from this jewel box. Excellent effort, best album in many years and most of all: a new Prince sound in harmony with contemporary pop sounds. A+ for effort. 4,5 out of 5 for quality.

4 out of 5 Excellent "modern" Prince album, best thing he has done in years, but in no way comparable to his peak years, despite many over excited reviews, great listen none the less. "My God it's full of Stars"

4 out of 5 Not better than Gold Experience but its his best album since then (which maybe isn't hard), some great fun, emotive, spiritual moments.

4.5 out of 5 is how I feel about it today - I don't recall playing a new Prince album so many times and enjoying it this much, so soon after release, since the gold experience. u don't really know me, u just think u do

4 1/2 stars
Its not as strong as my upper echelon Prince albums.. Lovesexy, Gold Experience, 1999, Sign O the Times and Purple Rain... but its a strong candidate to challenge and remain among my 2nd tier favorite albums 3121, Parade, Controversy, etc

It's okay, but I'm not really screaming to listen to it again like I thought I would be.

Some adept flourishes and encouraging new ventures distinguish one of the more coherent and focused efforts of Prince's latter-day career. He still can't seem to shake off the lack of songwriting inspiration and plain old oomph that has dogged his more recent recorded work - but he keeps teasing that one day he just might. 3/5 "Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced." - James Baldwin
