Very Solid Funky effort from his Purple Majesty! The Kid is back in rare form, and I really like the fact the he allowed a young producer to help keep the sound "modern" on some of the tracks - awesome idea. Not ready to put it on "Controversy" "Purple Rain" "Sign Of The Times" status, which would qualify as a classic album, but I'm extremely pleased, and maybe it sneaks into his Top 16 Albums list...which is a Fonky endeavor indeed! | |

If by "remix" you mean the version on AOA you are not alone - I didn't love it at first. It was a bit maddening to me. It lacked a danceable beat and groove. Then the weirdest thing happened; it grew on me. I realized it sounded like nothing else he'd ever done. It sounded futuristic and weird. I realized Prince was experimenting again. Then I started LOVING it. That's exactly what used to happen in the old days the first time I heard new Prince songs like "Housequake" or "Thieves in the Temple". | |

There's nothing really bad about it. It's just very weak. That the funkier song there is Breakfast Can Wait is symptomatic. It was simply a good song, as it leaked last year, nothing much for Prince standards. The first track is a satyric piece on the vacuity of contemporary dance music and dub step, which is kind of curious (and very unexpected). What saves it, besides the inclusion of Breakfast Can Wait, is Way Back Home, the only proper good Prince song. If not his worst album, certanly the most disappointing.

3/5......Really enjoying this album. At first I wasn't too sure but it is definately a grower. So many good moments (the only song I'm not keen on is the opener). TIME, CLOUDS, GOLD STANDARD are great. It has a cool feel to this album and his best in years. Still getting more from it, the more I listen...Back on form, for sure! | |

Much better then expected...after 3121 no decent r and b album has been released....i was kinda dissapointed by it therfefor a bit sceptical about this release previously...but after a few spins i really like it...4/5
