1/5 Worst non instrumental album of his career, essentially eurodance with dull rnb, and a disguised instrumental cover of forbidden Colours called Way back home.

5/5
Classic Prince circa 2014. His best since Lovesexy.

4/5 Thick poppy funk diluted with souful & stripped down ballads both seductive & soul searching.

4.75/5 This is Prince's best full album since Lovesexy.

2/5 More formulaic plastic R&B lite with no memorable songs.

'welcome back Mr. Nelson' sums it up very well!

I can't really make up my mind about the album to be honest. I do genuinely think it is a step in the right direction ( a different sound and a little more experimentation), but something in the back of my mind keeps nagging about exactly what you've just mentioned here.
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

2/5 better than all his really bad albums, but only hints at the greatness of his golden era due to a co producer writing the music on the songs that don't completely suck from prince inane lyrics and redundant music

4/5 IMO it's the most enjoyable & cohesive album since Emancipation. Funky, quirky Prince has finally returned. Get well soon Rosie Gaines (the most awesome vocalist P has worked with).

5/5. One beautiful funky trip. I'm struggling to find a fault with it, the only one is maybe the placement of Funknroll in the running order. This album is the best album I've heard since Outkast's Speakerboxx/The love Below

This, and also pretentious. [Edited 10/15/14 1:44am] "Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge"" ~ Isaac Asimov

Better than I had hoped, and I had high hopes!
I can't help but wonder about outtakes, maybe we'll get some good B-Sides "So fierce U look 2night, the brightest star pales 2 Ur sex..."

4.5 out of 5. Brilliant.

2.5 out of 5. A few interesting ideas, but too many down-tempo fillers towards the end of the album.

3.5/5. Fun, challenging and experimental with successful collaborations. Its not a classic because 2 tracks are shite and the rest are jumbled.

RATE 2 / 5 For the first time since 3121, Prince has released a new album without embarrassing tracks; congratulations

4.5/5 I'm sure this album will grow on me over time but it is really good, it's probably his best since Emancipation or Musicology, I love it listening to it now as I type this. MJB2
