Prince + Sheila E. collab album...would you be for it?

This thought popped into my brain over on the non-prince forum where Bey and Jay are being discussed on a rumoured collab album. I'm sure this concept of Prince and Sheila E. working on and releasing a collaborative album has been discussed before, but what if this was in the works right now....would you find it to be exciting (as I surely would) or do you think it wouldn't work? Prince and Sheila seem to work great together and have a strong musical chemistry. What do you think? If they were to announce that they were releasing an album together, would go out and buy it or download it at 12am?

Discuss.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Only if they are songs from the vault and she learns to sing.

But luckily their frienship is in the freezer right now.

In the 80s,this would have been a cool idea.Today,I don't know.

A few years ago, they collaborated on a song "Leader Of The Band" (which appears on her latest album) and the results aren't too interesting shrug

No. I find her incredibly boring.

Also, she appears to be sensationalising her time with Prince (and appealing for 'pity') to sell her autobiography at the moment so I'd say a future collaboration was unlikely.

I never thought Sheila E made good songs. Of course whatever stuff she did via Purple Music was good. Sheila and band composed instrumentals: 2 Sexy & Merci4theSpeedofaMadClownInSummer, Sheila also said she wrote Sister Fate. those were good songs that had the sound.

But right now Prince & Sheila collab album I don't know.

.

I would love a Prince + Lisa Coleman album though

They already recorded 3 albums. It would be great for another one, but Prince is looking for some 20 something female to record one album with and then drop her forever. He might even pull a Tamar and record an entire album, tour with her as her guitarist and then never release the album. That would be progress in Prince's mind. But go backwards with Sheila? No. He won't.

back in the 80s,though,I always thought that Prince should have kept the song "Screams Of Passion" and recorded it as a duet with Sheila. That would have been a #1 smash hit.

Well, hell Prince can't control everything and everybody. And although she only says one negative thing he did in her book (and besides that her WHOLE book is NOT about Prince) why should she (and everybody else he's worked with, lived with, married, etc.) be censored to say absolutely nothing about him when obviously he was and still is a big part of why she's successful? I love P but if he is indeed mad with her for talking about him in her book then that's total BS.

It would have been a nice duet with Susannah, especially since she is the muse

No. she's in the past. I'd rather have him work with someone new and/or challenging. Other than that, Van Hunt, Jamie Lidell, Kate Bush, Tom Waits, Brian Eno, Robert Plant, D'angelo, Rahsaan Patterson, Aphex Twin....oh we'd be here all day.

I would have liked a Prince/Sheila duet lol from "Erotic City" to "Love Bizarre" to "Scream Of Passion".....it would have been a trilogy of great duets by these two.

First, I'd like to get this out of the way...

...to all you Sheila haters: fishslap x1,000

Thank you.

Now, as for the O.P. - right now taking into consideration the musical output of these two artists, I'm not too excited about seeing them get back together for a collaboration.
As was mentioned above, if they brought stuff out of the vault AND agreed not to change it too much, then I'd be weak in the knees.
But the mellow stuff that seems to be their current normal doesn't make me want to run out and buy anything. Heck...as BIG of a Sheila E. fan that I am, I haven't yet made it a priority to get her last album!!! (I'm waiting to get it on vinyl.)
And to be honest, I'm not running out to get Plectum Electrum nor the other album whose name currently escapes me.
If I can get them on vinyl, I will.

sigh I can't remember a Prince album name. That speaks volumes! disbelief
