Art Official Age album cover.... Tis HAS TO BE the WORST album cover in his entire career (and we all know, there have been quite a few bad album covers). I actually thought the album cover was a joke when I first seen it.
It looks like P learned basic photoshop and decided to have a go at it.
Not trying to take a shit on the album itself, or anything. I want the album to be good. I just can't believe he and/or Warner APPROVED this! Really?!
what do u guys think of the new cover?

Tbh, after the cover of 20ten, this looks like a slice of heaven to me. The alternate cover on http://preorder.artofficialage.com/ would be the one I'd select if given a preference. | |

I agree, he could have done a much better job. 4-5 years and this is what he comes up with. Wow. I just think we deserve more than two discs this year. Don't u want to come , 3121. This is the kind of Album Cover that once cool/over the hill artists do when they're old- just like "Universal James"; 1980's Prince would NEVER do a cover like that. | |

It doesn't creep me out (even with the 3rd eye) as some of his more recent photoshopped pictures do, that's the first thing I noticed. I actually looked at it. Would be nice if it was more of a photograph, than a painting-ish type of things. I think that's what I'm wondering is this a painting or something? | |

Does anyone else think that he looks overly artificial on purpose? In keeping with the "Art Official Age" (artificial age) concept? . The shape of the 4 albums and his afro are clearly meant to invoke the universal icon for "The Cloud" (as in wireless online storage). It's especially noticeable when the artwork isn't cropped, like here on WBs artist page: . |

I like it. I also like the fact he has the Purple Rain LPs in the background. Weird that he included them as he always says he never looks backwards.

The PLUM cover looks better, IMO. For the first time in a while he doesn't look a screaming you know what on the cover and giving head down eyes up pose that he has worn out the last 30 years Best cover in a while and one that won't turn people off instantly allowing the music to at least be heard. I love the blue sky and the vinyls. It's great that he has embraced vinyls, although he was one of the first to release music in the internet. Just one of his many contradictions. He's against the "artificial age" that he himself helped to bring about 15 years ago. I haven't looked Prince much on the cover, but the only disturbing thing to me are the three eyes. Apart from that ridiculous detail, I really like the cover. | |

I actually think it's a decent album cover. I think people don't like his current look or his bizarre 3rd eye theme he has going. This cover makes me imagine a vinyl album in hand. This is one of the few album covers in a long time with nice colors and tone to it. And it does have a sense of mystique as opposed to a cover they just threw on from a photo taken one minute before, outside the studio (Musicology).
Someone listed off much worse album covers, and they're right!

The album cover is striking, and fantastic. It turns heads, which is the whole point. I saw it plastered on dozens of video screens in London today and it stands out. |

moderatorit wouldn't bother me but for that stupid ass 3rd sunglass lense .. it just looks awful .. coupled or should eye say tripled with the fact that prince and his music have absolutely nothing to do with the 3rd eye concept ... nor does he seem to have a clue about it whatsoever .. pretty sure the JW's aren't 3 keen on it either .. he put about as much time into this art as he did the 'breakfast can wait' single | |

In any case, the formation of records in the back does resemble the shape of a cloud. And if that's what it is, a cloud, then it's full of purple rain. A forecast of purple rain to come down in the near future? Get out your umbrellas! |

Yes this cover art definitely has a "Mystique" element to it... It has the 4 albums, the 3 eyes = 7 It has "Purple Rain" with clouds in Background it has Prince looking perfect with a perfect Fro and even has a gold raincoat reminiscent of his early days..... | |
