So, who here has been a Prince fan "the longest"?

This can be relative to your age or relative to the number of years Prince has been in the game (if you're of the age to remember when he started). So, with that said, who here has been a Prince fan the longest? I've loved his music since I was 3.

I was a fan after about 2 minutes after hearing Soft & Wet in 1978.

Can't get much longer than that unless u knew the dude in Minnesota before he came out.

I became a fan when I bought "Soft and Wet" but didn't really appreciate how good Prince was until I listened to the "1999" album through headphones.

was 12 years old in 1982. Little red Corvette and 1999 were all over the radio and music videos on TV. Became a fan. Heard torrid rumors about this crazy movie Prince was making and that it might be Rated X. Then one night the video for "When Doves Cry" came on TV. It was the first time hearing the song also for me. The combination of the music and the video blew me away, and I became a die hard fan that night.

My 3 year old twins can pretty much sing Purple Rain. They love it.

My 7 year old loves Screwdriver more.

I guess all my kids have been passive Prince fans all their lives biggrin

I don't know how long exactly, but I remember becoming a Prince fan upon hearing the songs International Lover, and Do Me Baby. I loved the songs and the singer's voice, but I felt kind of dirty listening to them because I was a young teenager. lol However, once I saw my first picture of Prince, I fell in love, and have been in love ever since! love

I was 8 years 8months and 25 days old in 1982, when "1999" dropped. I dont remember exactly when i bought the album (probably early 83), but i saved my allowance for two weeks and that was the first album i ever purchased. Was hooked (I would take the record to school with me, simply because i didnt want to be apart from it), and when i saw "Purple Rain" in the theater at 10 years old...it was ALL OVER. I never looked back...

Make it so, Number One...

Ha, that's funny. Yeah I think Love is an awesome song and I like the intro to $ as well. I haven't heard a lot of the songs people refer to on here sometimes because I don't actively chase bootlegs smile

The song Callinmate was referring to is called, " heart or $" (Love or Money) and was the b-side to Kiss. There are separate songs called Love and $ on the albums 3121 and Lotusflow3r.

I first became a fan of Little Red Corvette in my late teens. Trouble was, I thought it was John Cougar Mellancamp!!! Really got into him with When Doves Cry.
