Clouds is an excellent RnB song, half accessible and half deeper statement. U Know is one of the worst "productions" he has ever released. Screams desperation and try-hard. PretzalBodyLogic is cheesy, girl pop rubbish with some slightly appealing instrumentals. FunkNRoll Is classic 80's Camille funk....minus the creativity. Whitecaps is utterly childish and poorly written and produced. Overall this new thread is about positivity. Please take all your negativity back to the other threads thank you No, no. I started the thread. I welcome all points of view. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I love this! These reviews are very entertaining. I hope Prince always generates music to bring forth these responses. If not, people all'd be all I love it, and that's so boring. The positivity is all here in the entertainment! Thank you 4 making me smile 2day!!!! Plus sign had!

i would never compare the two songs ever. Quicksand is a masterpiece of song writing and melody and composition. You really have to listen and understand and try and decipher the messages. But as you rightly said what i was saying was that the song grew on me, on first listen i thought, what is this? as i had heard so many amazing things about it. then it hit me, it is incredible. now i know that 'u know' will never do that but it may grow a bit for people. thats all i was saying.

i like both of them alot of course IMHO but they actually sound interesting / he's made an effort vs. 20ten or the random releases since 2013 so = excited

IMHO - I would differ as follows:
Breakfast Can Wait = is ok, would have been an 80's b-side The Breakdown = ok but an album track Clouds = is great and interesting U Know = is is awesome and interesting PretzalBodyLogic = 90's Maxi-CD single bonus track FunkNRoll = well all i can is let's just hope on one of the 2 versions to be released something drastically good occurs to improve it Whitecaps = sounds like a leftover from the Wendy & Lisa Planet Earth recordings

Guilty as charged. I complained fiercely about the new tracks until they really got to me. The reason I created this thread was to point out that even someone who was pissy and negative about them like me could be turned by giving the music a chance. I'm not going to argue with you about this because you're right. Nobody has to care about my opinion at all. My thread was an attempt at a public apology of sorts. I deserve your flogging. All the talk you did about these tracks sucking balls I am eating my own words. Gladly in this case. I opened my mouth too soon and didn't give the new songs a chance. It was stupid of me, and it's likely that I insulted many fans here who did enjoy those songs right from the beginning. That was shitty of me. I acted like an ass. thedance said: oh shut up Kingsausage. [Edited 9/4/14 2:50am] Sorry about my previous reply, thedance. I underestimated my own dickishness and overestimated the extent to which people would care that I had grown to like these songs. Your advice is good and I will keep it in mind. I should give new songs a few spins at minimum before casting judgment, and certainly before coming on here and spewing bullshit about them. Wow - dude could have posted on page 18 of an existing thread that his mind has changed, but instead he created a new thread to make it more visible. Give a long-time orger a break. Thanks. I earned a large degree of scorn and skepticism by my overwhelming negativity in the other threads. Even if people can't get past that, I'd like to still make a point that long-time Orgers can change their minds...or rather that the power of Prince's music change their minds for them! When I first heard U Know I immediately hated it for the autotune and turned it off. Finally played the whole thing about a week later, and as a whole, found it interesting. That's the first time I've thought that about a new Prince tune since TRC. Now I'm really diggin it. Clouds is a new classic. Finally getting excited for the album.

I applaud this you for making this thread. I noticed people just don't seem to give Prince music a chance after first listen these days. I remember when hearing the Purple Rain album, most of it didn't grab me at first listen. Same as Kiss, Sign 'o' the Times, Adore, and plenty of other tunes from the 80's. Now they when I hear them they sound like classics. I don't know if I any of the new songs would have quite the same impact, but I do give them a chance.

The King is a good chap, he has strong opinions from day to day and obviously does care about music, Prince and associated artists. Brownie points for reacting passionately but also evolving.
In HR, he'd be assigned the color Red for being the Action Jackson Executive type - strong views, rapid action, but not rigid. Might revisit views because they are quickly and intensely formed. I'm the blue red type -- in almost equal doses, I'm the studious type who likes lots of details one minute, the next I want to get to the point and am frustrated by the lack of concision and people having their nose too close to the picture to really see it. One thing I am sure about: it's going to be an interesting couple of weeks around here. [Edited 9/4/14 19:22pm]
