You were really hating Clouds and U Know with a passion, being very harsh.

And now "they are growing for you".

Do you think I can spell "ridiculous" right, because that is what you are...........?!!

Next time take a listen before you judge, before you make all that noice here about how bad these songs are.. ok??

Now there's some classic .org bullshit right there. I swear some people's whole purpose here is to cry about it...a truly great Prince song usually isn't likable instantly, it takes a few listens to sneak up on you.

TOTALLY disagree with this. lol I think people are more happy for some new Prince albums, then they're actually impressed by the music.

To me there's a huge spectrum. Some songs I love right away. Others I hate and always hate. Some grow on me. Others I get tired of and never truly come back.

I agree with you. But he said "a truly great Prince song", & that's not true, imo. I just find these new songs to be..."Prince-Lite". I'm really not finding any of them memorable [with one exception].......

I've loved "Clouds" from day 1. "U Know" is OK, but I imagine within a week I'll be sick of it.

I see. Me liking a song you don't care for makes me a douche?

That pretty much makes you King of Douches. shrug

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

If liking Whitecaps makes one a douche, sign me up. I love it.

I am extremely disappointed with Clouds and U Know. I have never cared for BCW (except for the remix) and BD is just OK for me. I like PBL mainly because the chorus has a fresh, booming sound. I really hope there are a few gems in AOA because at this point I have no excitement for it. I love P's guitar rock songs, so there has been a lot of excitement from me for PE, but Whitecaps is beyond disappointing. At this point if there are 5-7 really good songs between the 2 albums, I will call it a win. So far nothing I have heard on AOA even measures up to the best songs on 20Ten IMO (Sticky Like Glue, Laveaux, LayDown). I know it's a lot to expect from a 56 year old, but I liked it better when he was setting trends instead of following. What I have heard from AOA so far is nothing but cheap filler. Hopefully the rest will surprise me.

Well said.
I was very underwhelmed by it until someone in my vicinity started saying it was 'bassline of the year' .
I bought it and turned up the bass and goddamn he was right.
The 'text' video started off its primacy for most people and although that vid hasn't aged well, it did seem very unusual and brought out the 'message' which is what the track and the album has traded upon since with the 'critical canon'.

Some of P's best material is challenging or misses you at first.

I remember hearing Sign O' The Times (as the lead single?!?) for the first time on the radio. I was completely underwhelmed and couldn't imagine what the record companies were thinking. Then it hit me, but not in that "huge single" way.

I think I'm going to like Clouds for a while. Has a lot of P tropes I enjoy.
