It really is, its a very funky song, which morphs from purple hip hop to techno to almost a rock flavor. The structure of the song is very strong also, its just an high energy, low bass booty shaking funk! | |

It's Prince being weird again. About time! Even if the song isn't a slam dunk, it's way better than the generic funk fillers of recent albums or toss off garbage like Rich Friends. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Cream Maxi Single? That to me was the first one that I loathed. And since then only a few alternate versions have been decent in my opinion...It's like after the great Gett Off 12 inch, most of them were horrible. "7" had a great acoustic version...and there's a few others here and there in the following years...but Cream was the death blow for great Prince 12 inch releases in my opinion... | |

I'm glad it transitions into that frenetic jam beginning at 2:36. I don't think that middle verse-chorus part would have sustained as an entire song with it's stripped-down sound. Maybe this was intentional to keep it interesting. Maybe I'm a genius. But probably not. "The password is what." |
