Good, I'm glad it's 2 stars. Many people here went crazy for PE. It's not a good album at all.
It is a huge flop and it's on his way becoming his second lowest selling album of all time behind N.E.W.S.

Stopped reading after "Art Official Age is an attempt to get back to the violet-tinted pop mastery of the Purple Rain era. "
AOA SOUNDS NOTHING LIKE PR.
It gets worse:
"'This Could Be Us,'' reportedly inspired by Purple Rain heroine Apollonia" Dude has no clue

To each their own. I love NEWS, it a jewel to me. If PE is someone else's jewel, then so be it, it certainly isn't mine. I am way disappointed with PE, but my hope were sky high though, ah well, maybe their next effort will be better, if there is one.

It's sad, the 3rd Eye Girl just isn't a good look for Prince... He should just stick with NPG. Plectrum is really a flop, musically and commercially.

No, but I think what they meant was the "violet-tinted pop mastery" of the _ _ era. Not so much the album's sound but his ability to make a great pop song. My take on it ayway?

I believe Prince said so himself earlier this year, about the song and Apollonia, Prince 4Ever.

AOA is a good overall album, it's still missing something, but it's good, not great but good. Better than all his recent releases including Planet Earth, LoftusFlower and 20Ten.
Plectrum Electrum as an album as a whole... I just can't listen to it. I only like two songs, WOW and Another Love.

Wow, two paragraphs for 2 whole albums. Rolling Stone with their extensive, indepth reviews there.

U call this a review? I can't actually believe people get paid for writing such merely descriptive, very approximative, quickly shitted BS. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Where have you gone Kurt Loder, Nelson George.

Disagree. While I think the PE album certainly is by no means his best work, they're a good live performing group & loook just fine rocking. You may not like their look, but it's not bad imo. From what I've seen online, I wished I could've been there!

Prince is too busy teaching these kids something to care about the quality of his output it seems. And I bet they are learning a lot. There is even a video online of Grantis talking about her influences before she ever joined Prince and she did not mention Prince. Now she mentions him as her number one influence. So whatever is happening with them, it seems they are having fun. Meanwhile I guess our ears have to suffer a bit. But whatever.

...which is why I stopped reading in the '80s. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

One, I've learned to stop respect Rolling Stone Reviews more and more over the years. And, two, y'all folks can delude yourselves all y'all want, but both AOA and PlecElec debuted in the top ten so there is nothing about PlecElec that says flop. In fact, "WoW," "Pretzelbodylogic," "Stop this Train," and "AnotherLove" are some of Prince's most powerful performances on record...ever! Y'all can rollout anything y'all want from the 80s. I was there, during the 80s, and the guitar work on PlecElec is as flawless as anything he's done, including "Temptation," "Computer Blue," "Let's Go Crazy," and others. And the vocal delivery of "Wow" and "AnotherLove" stands up to anything.

Plectrum Electrum is MUCH better than his shitty new solo album. AOA is rubbish.

Yawn... another "music reporter" who can't help but compare Prince's contemporary music with the 80's... THIRTY effin years ago.. and invoking Hendrix on Pretzlebodylogic?? Huh? Hendrix? Wut? Change it one more time..

The problem is it doesn't read like a 2 Star review.
