Agreed!! This dude woud probably complain that the reindeer sh*t on his roof when Santa was down the chimney delivering his presents. Why don't he just leave already. TOTAL buzz kill!!!

I would like to see all the info on formats and availability aggragated in one spot, cuz, I've got questions...

Will the physical release be in stores? I want to go to Best Buy (or any other store) on release day and pick it up. I don't want to order it.

If yes, will vinyl also be in stores?

What are all the options for digital? iTunes, I know. Amazon? One of Prince's websites? WB?

Will any of the digital options be available before the physical release?

I don't need to pay for a digital release that I won't get until the same day as the physical, because...

I can rip a digital copy myself at no additional cost.

Are some digital releases lossy and others lossless?

Is a digital purchase the only (legal) way to get the "bonus" tracks? Or, will they be available to those that purchase physical copies?

confuse

Don't get it twisted. I'm excited. Just need more info to decide what I'll be buying and when I'll be buying it. I want to hear Clouds but I'll wait if it means buying the album twice just to hear a song a month early. If I buy twice it's going to be CD & LP, not physical and digital. (UNLESS, buying a digital copy is the only way to get the bonus tracks. That would suck.)

cool

When I was a youngster, we would wait until we actually dropped the needle to the groove a few times before we passed judgment on an album. Nowadays orgers "review" and dismiss material that's more than a month away from being released. Yes, it is indeed a new age. An artificial age.

side note, i'm glad he and Warner Brothers are friends again...so to speak lol. they seem to be promoting it heavy on twitter via articles and tweets and their default avi image is the album cover.

and on their fb page they use his album cover

New Prince music just stirs up the waters and wake up the bottom feeders. This site loses purpose more and more each day.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Why don't you try clicking some links? Most of these questions can be answered pretty quickly. As for those that can't: Vinyl availability is up in the air at this point (Australia only?), but of course the CD will be in stores on release day.

Holy shit, that Usher wannabe guy he is working with is really bad at singing. And the production on the song is just...a poor execution of an old idea. Whatever the song someone posted a couple pages ago was. Worse than Kirky J.

Not really looking forward to either of these.

Why are you assuming that your tastes are the same as everyone elses? No two music listeners have the same aesthetics. If an artist goes a direction that you cease to like then stop following them and move on or take a break and come back when they produce something you do like. To say everyone wrong when they like something that doesnt suit you is kinda childish and stupid. Just as its stupid for someone who dislikes something is wrong because they have different taste than you when you like something. People know what they like and don't like. If its not for you, just call it a day.

Well damn! When did the Org become a Prince Groupthink Tank? I read earlier, if we're not excited about this new music then we "don't belong on this site" and now if it's not for us, we should "just call it a day". It seems to me that y'all are the ones having issues handling opinions that differ from yours. So perhaps it's y'all that "don't belong on this site" and should "just call it a day." hmmm

If you knew how to read you'd see I didn't criticize his dislike of anything. I dont personally give a shite what he thinks about any particular piece of music. He said people who liked it are asskissers or whatever. I don't kiss anyones ass. If I like something I like it, if I don't I say its not my cup of tea and move on. I don't go onto websites and start talking shit to people who like what I dislike. Understand the distinction? Thanks

Why do we think there will be bonus tracks? Because of this wording?

Prince & 3RDEYEGIRL Digital Single 1 MP3
Prince & 3RDEYEGIRL Digital Single 2 MP3
Prince & 3RDEYEGIRL Digital Single 3 MP3

Prince Digital Single 1 MP3
Prince Digital Single 2 MP3
Prince Digital Single 3 MP3

I assumed these will be from the album but maybe dropped during the lead up to 9/30. Nothing new; just four tracks downloadable before the release of the album.

No?

I hear songs like Clouds on which Prince tries to use sounds similar to his classic 80’s sound. Tries being the key word. Is this really what he thinks his classic shit sounded like? MPLSound and 20ten are also bad offenders. Somebody needs to clean his ears.

im really into CLOUDS so far... but it makes sense b/c Im a huge fan of Sticky Like Glue and this sounds like a cousin to that song.

The part with Lianna La Havas is awesome...

I really like the lyrics of this one.. P's lyrics have bordered on cheese over the last few albums.. but i really like some of the lyrics here.. especially the part about 'everybodys stars/reality is blurred'

the only part im not in love with is the actual chorus.. but im hoping that when i commutte to work tomorrow and blast it on my headphones - that it will kick in.

if anyone is in SF and sees a guy banging his head on the muni... that will probably be me!

You better pump your damn brakes because I can guarantee you that my reading and comprehension skills far exceed yours, thanks. The person you were addressing nor I - said anything about "asskissers" nor you kissing Prince's ass. So why your panties are all waded up in a bunch, I don't know nor do I care about. What I was addressing was your presumption that you can tell anyone here to "just call it a day" because you can't handle their opinion that differs from yours, as it pertains to Prince new music. Nowhere on this website does it state that being here requires liking whatever Prince drops from his plectrumrectum. If you don't like that, you are more than welcome to take your own advice. I'm pretty sure you do understand that, don't you?

it's funny that prince is nodding to Public Enemy with the goofy "artificial age" word play and maybe even PE for plectrum .. for whatever reasons I am a little excited about these record .. I don't know why .. I can't stand Pretzel or Breakfast and find the more chances and repeated listens I give a prince record the more it grates on me .. but nonetheless I am happy he is putting them out on vinyl and has a real record co behind him .. I like the Breakdown song enough to give it all a chance

jesus .. little wing just came on the radio .. why the hell can't prince write something this good .. oh well

I called my local record store .. not a chain store .. pure pop records .. been around since i was a kid .. they will be carrying all formats vinyl and cd .. so that made me happy ... I think I will buy the vinyl so that if I hate the records at least I can just file them with my other records and forget about them .. if it is good I will make a cassette

funk n roll was .. ok .. breakdown .. i liked live quite a lot .. I don't want to ruin it by listening to clouds .. I don't need any more disappointments to ruin my first listen .. breakfast and pretzel already have me doubting .. don't need any more doubts

actually I am still debating if I should spend money on this at all .. I swore off paying prince after the last 20 albums I paid for ended up in the toilet .. given the 4 year wait I want to give him another chance but really would not mind waiting 10 years if it meant that the album he finally put out was as good as his best .. and yes that is a perfectly reasonable expectation for prince to try his BEST

Before I was so rudely interrupted, rolleyes I was about to post the official WB Press Release:

http://www.marketwired.co...941030.htm

Music Icon Prince Announces Two Brand New Studio Albums

'Art Official Age' and 'Plectrumelectrum' Both Released September 30th

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - Aug 25, 2014) - Music icon PRINCE today announces not one, but two, brand new studio albums to be released globally via Warner Bros. Records. The much-anticipated albums are 'ART OFFICIAL AGE' and 'PLECTRUMELECTRUM', set to release on September 30th 2014 in the US. 'ART OFFICIAL AGE' is a solo album and 'PLECTRUMELECTRUM' is by Prince's new band 3RDEYEGIRL.

Both albums, which are sold separately, are now available for pre-order via digital retailers and from http://www.artofficialage.com. Early buyers will be able to unlock 'instant grat' tracks from each record. The album releases will also be marked by a series of very special events taking place globally, to be confirmed shortly.

2014 has been one of the most exciting years yet for the prodigious musical talent. Together with 3RDEYEGIRL, he rocked UK and European audiences into a frenzy with his sell-out 'Hit & Run' tours, generating some of the most significant critical acclaim of his career so far. In April, NPG Music Publishing was launched, marking the first time Prince's vast publishing catalog has been independently controlled and administered in over twenty years. All of this in addition to headlining and curating the Essence Festival on July 4th in New Orleans and a much talked about appearance on hit TV show 'New Girl'. 2014 has underlined that Prince continues to innovate and surprise, thrilling his fans and welcoming a whole new audience in the process.

The brand new studio albums mark a historic return to Warner Bros. Records, Prince's original label home. The renewed partnership came after the announcement that Warner Bros. Records returned to Prince the master recordings of his pioneering '80s albums, including Dirty Mind, 1999, Purple Rain and Sign 'O' the Times.

"Prince is one of just a handful of visionary artists who have truly reshaped and redefined modern music and culture," said Warner Bros. Records Chairman & CEO Cameron Strang. "For the past 35 years, he has never stopped evolving, challenging himself, reinventing his sound, and pushing boundaries. In true Prince fashion, he has just given us not one, but two extraordinary albums that express the incredible range and depth of his talent. All of us at WBR are immensely proud to be working with Prince to bring this brilliant new music to his legions of fans around the world, and needless to say we are thrilled to be working in partnership with him again."

In releasing two albums on the same day fans get the chance to savor the many different aspects of Prince's musical talents with 'ART OFFICIAL AGE' and 'PLECTRUMELECTRUM' offering two very distinct listening experiences.

'ART OFFICIAL AGE' is a classic Prince album, produced, arranged, composed and performed by Prince and Joshua Welton (@joshuaworld). Sonically the record is a contemporary concoction of soul, R&B and funk. The melodies are immediate and prominent as ever and Prince's vocals are rich and solid, taking full advantage of his vocal range with decidedly, seductive lyrics.

'PLECTRUMELECTRUM' is a classic band record, with 3RDEYEGIRL which include Prince, Donna Grantis (guitar), Hannah Ford Welton (drums) and Ida Nielsen (bass). Recorded live and in analog the album is an electrifying funk-rock statement. Many of the tracks from 'PLECTRUMELECTRUM' were performed live on the 'Hit & Run' tours of the UK earlier this year -- incendiary performances in a series of historic venues -- which led The Guardian to declare "These are performances by one of the greatest funk-rock bands ever." The group was showered in 5-star reviews from all major reviewing media.

More live dates will be confirmed shortly.

I'm pretty sure the sentence I highlighted in green may be of the most importance to any interested party here. So you're welcome! cool

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I can kind of dig 'Clouds'...it has that bit of oddly new prince arraingment going on...which I think bodes well. I hope we get some b-sides out of this whole ordeal though.
