Truly, I don't understand why everybody is getting so freaked out about pre-orders. The albums are coming out on Sept 30. D'you really think they're going to be sold out & out of print on Oct 1? Relax... We have all the time in the world.

Yeah, we haven't heard that before.

It's sucha great record no record company wanted to touch it and it only gets released so Warners gets Prince off their backs.

*More live dates will be confirmed shortly.

.

Don't expect to hear anything from these albums, though. Then again, that might be a selling point.

I dig Bart ....

Do you have to open an itunes account?

Looks lime CD preorder and free digital copy is through Amazon.

I wish there was a way to just download this via Bittorrent and send Prince the full amount directly. I don't like to give some of it to Amazon. If he accepted Bitcoin, I could do this.

But I suppose I will buy a digital copy and hopefully he gets most of that $.

It just dawned on me about the title "art official age" a play on the word "artificial"?
Oops I just saw someone else post the same thing!

Artificial Age, i get that and it's a nice enough title.

but "Art Official Age", beyond a play on words, the

phrase "art official age" makes no sense, does it?

/

also, notice how the actual song on the album isn't
called "art official age" but "art official cage".

LOL Bart, you have no idea if other labels passed on PE (or if it was even offered), you're just making it up because it suits your pre-ordained conclusions.

I agree with everything Bart says on this thread, with one exception. I think these two albums WILL offer two unique listening experiences. One will give you dull, plastic R&B. The other will give you dull, plastic "rock." Seriously, I dislike every song that I've heard from both albums. We've lowered our standards for Prince a lot. Clouds is pretty bad [to me]. All these songs are bad [to me]. This shit makes Rave and 20ten sound good [to me]. Man, I might even like NPS more.

Why are you assuming that your tastes are the same as everyone elses? No two music listeners have the same aesthetics. If an artist goes a direction that you cease to like then stop following them and move on or take a break and come back when they produce something you do like. To say everyone wrong when they like something that doesnt suit you is kinda childish and stupid. Just as its stupid for someone who dislikes something is wrong because they have different taste than you when you like something. People know what they like and don't like. If its not for you, just call it a day.

Change it one more time..

I just listened to Our Destiny--that is a minor song--that kicks Clouds ass. Not good.

Not sure if this has been addressed yet, but...

There doesn't seem to be any way to re-download "Breakdown" as part of my pre-order, as it's marked "purchased" in the iTunes store.

I deleted the single that I had previously bought out of iTunes, then went to my previous purchases to re-download hoping to see it listed as part of the new album, but it's still listed as being downloadable from the single (rather than part of the album).

Anyone figured out how to force a re-download as an album track for a previously purchased single (that now seems to be tied to the album)?

I notice they did this with "Happy" and Pharrell's album as well, however I didn't end up buying the rest of Pharrell's album after the fact, so there was no need for my OCD to kick in with that one.

I suppose I'll get around to buying these at some point. I'm not as quickly moved by P as I once was.

I have to admit, though, it's still very cool to see how lively the org gets with news of impending releases. I hope everyone enjoys these.

Well damn! When did the Org become a Prince Groupthink Tank? I read earlier, if we're not excited about this new music then we "don't belong on this site" and now if it's not for us, we should "just call it a day". It seems to me that y'all are the ones having issues handling opinions that differ from yours. So perhaps it's y'all that "don't belong on this site" and should "just call it a day." hmmm

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

YES. If I wanted manure like Clouds I could listen to dozens, if not hundreds, of pointless throwaway artists. Who would have ever thought Prince would sink this low? He keeps getting worse. I thought Emancipation was bad, but then there was NPS. I thought NPS was bad, but then there was Rave. I thought Rave was bad, but then there was every shit he shat in 2000 to early 2001. I liked TRC, Musicology, and 3121. But I thought Planet Earth was bad...until I heard MPLSound. LotusFlower just bores me. 20ten is a modern day masterpiece compared to the double butt nugget that these new albums appear to be.

Cool. Cracks me up tho. The one time there is a big announcement he manages to announce it before the big announcement itself! Glad to be proved wrong - and about to pre-order. Great news and don't want to sound like I is moaning but don't see the likes of Check The Record / 2 Young 2 Dare / Big City and maybe four five songs across the two we already have? The breakdown / pbl / fixur / PE / bcw?

I was thinking the same thing.....why tease your fans with great music that you are not even planning to release?

Don't u want to come , 3121. It's gonna be so much fun, 3121. That's where the party be, 3121. Y'all can come if u want to, but u can never leave!

Would like to have seen Ain't Gonna Miss U, Groovy Potential and Fallinlove2nite (instead of Breakfast can wait) on the solo album, and Screwdriver on 3EG.

Other than that, looking forward to giving them a spin. Gut feel is 3EG will be the disc.

Although I do like a tune here and there and I'll still do whatever it takes to go see him live, none of albums after the Gold Experience have moved me at all. It mostly just sounds like watered down versions of older and better music. What happened to the ahead of his time, inovative, original Prince?

Yeah, we haven't heard that before.

.

* ‘ART OFFICIAL AGE’ and ‘PLECTRUMELECTRUM’ offering two very distinct listening experiences.

.

Nope.

.

*‘ART OFFICIAL AGE’ is a classic Prince album

.

Nope. Unless "classic" means "the same as the dross he's put out in the past 15 years".

, produced, arranged, composed and performed by Prince and Joshua Welton

.

This year's Kirky J!

.

Sonically the record is a contemporary concoction of soul, R&B and funk. The melodies are immediate and prominent as ever and Prince’s vocals are rich and solid, taking full advantage of his vocal range with decidedly, seductive lyrics.

.

Remember when Prince used the acronym "SOS"? Yeah that.

.

*‘PLECTRUMELECTRUM’ is a classic band record, with 3RDEYEGIRL, Recorded live and in analog the album is an electrifying funk-rock statement.

.

It's sucha great record no record company wanted to touch it and it only gets released so Warners gets Prince off their backs.

.

*More live dates will be confirmed shortly.

.

Don't expect to hear anything from these albums, though. Then again, that might be a selling point.

why spend so much time talking about what you don't like? i personally won't call this new stuff a MASTERPIECE but i love Clouds. I'm anxious for the new albums and at 22, i'm actually excited to be a Prince fan again.

side note, i'm glad he and Warner Brothers are friends again...so to speak lol. they seem to be promoting it heavy on twitter via articles and tweets and their default avi image is the album cover.
