I'd rather see a biopic of Prince instead.

A 3 part story that covers his youth, superstardum, and diminished irrelevancy.
For his youth, Jadda Pinkett Smith can play him. For his middle and symbol years,

I'd love to see Winona Ryder play him. And for his current years, perhaps

Jan Crouch could do a good job playing him. Who knows. shrug

Not really answering the question, but I always thought The Gold Experience would have been a great soundtrack for Purple Rain III

kid be rich .. wins awards .. gets full of himself and fires all his friends and family

spends the next 20 years womanizing popping pills and drinking while putting out embarrassing music that only attracts hookers and coattail riders

kid is still loaded but depressed and shallow .. his life has no meaning .. his music sux and he knows it

kid meets a woman his own age .. she does not like him at all and he cant stand it

she makes him beg for her love .. she ties him up and dominates him .. prince hates this but cant resist .. he loves control and has never been controlled like this before (get a real 50 shades theme going with prince locked in a dungeon being tortured)

she abuses him until he writes a song that a. makes sense. b. is not shallow or fake new age and c. does not suck

the song is about all his friends he threw in the garbage and how he done fucked up .. it's the saddest story ever been told

the big pr moment at the end is when prince shows up at a revolution gig with the former members

they play the breakdown together .. p kisses wendy on the cheek .. they jam on 17 days to close the movie with credits

songs in the movie .. the breakdown .. extraloveable .. moonbeam levels .. old friends for sale .. 17 days .. shockadelica .. demo version tick tick bang .. demo version we can funk .. come on .. eye love you but don't trust you (sung by wendy n lisa) .. calhoune square .. last heart .. lust u always

acoustic live version prince wendy lisa sing pearls before swine after credits role sitting in prince living room

starring

prince, wendy, lisa, fink, andre, dez, leeds, atlanta, sheila, bobbyz, morris, jerome, vanity etc ...

I also toyed around with a plot involving The Kid and Morris both owning their own record labels. They fight to sign the best acts.A beautiful, sexy young female singer with a strong voice comes into town and they both immediately want to sign her. It's a romantic comedy where the two guys try to win her over lol

Kid has been a popstar for decades now. He lives the good life. He's preps a new, wholesome, gimmicky girl band, tours them, shows them the "ropes". Then one day he announces that he is working on a solo record for a his former home at a major label, produced by the husband of the drummer. This is where it could either become a Kill Bill style revenge murder fantasy or a dramedy about music that features no actual music, only observations from alleged witnesses of said music.

He finds out his new protege is the son of a former lover

father and son.

It could be great.

Prince, Sheila e., Morris Day.

And Bruno Mars would be perfect as their son.

Sounds good to me! smile

Remember though, we need some form of strange spiritual character too.

And lots of obscure messagery throughout the film

Graffiti Bridge 2 is goin to be awesome

The Kid and Morris are now big superstars, living the good life in Los Angeles.

They return back to Minneapolis for a funeral (a mutual friend/associate has died)

Once there, they both discover that things have really changed in their old neighborhood.Crime has taken over, the old nightclubs have been torn down, the city is in despair. The once-thriving music scene in that town doesn't exist anymore.

Meanwhile,The Kid meets up with his old bandmembers and they all decide to reunite.Undestandably, there is some tension here. The bandmembers think that the Kid abandoned them many years ago,in his search for fame and fortune. They feel that the Kid has left them behind and there is alot of bitterness there.

The Kid wants to start a music school,to help the young kids learn to play music, and he is joined in this mission by a pretty music teacher who becomes his love interest.

Morris meets up with his old Time bandmates, too and they also decide to try it one more time.

There is a subplot about Morris finding out he has a son that he never knew about.

Can The Kid and Morris save their old city with music? Can they turn things around and bring some hope and positivity to their old neighborhood?

I actually like this idea. Could possible work.

How bout this?

The Kid is still trying to make it in the music business, but everybody else calls him "The Grump" now. Morris & The Time have partnered with former Milwaukee Brewers Hall of Fame Shortstop Robin Yount. The plot is centered on how many times they can throw hot peppers at The Grump, and chant the last name of their good buddy, Robin Yount. "Yount, Yount, Yount!" they chant. Then a new character, the talented Shelby J comes on the scene. She is a talented singer with a great voice, but in the script, Prince won't let her act or sing. She is forced to walk by people on the set screaming at the top of her lungs, "Put Your Hands Up!" She shouts this 475 times in less than 30 minutes, as this is the entire mid section of the movie.

Then The Grump meets this mysterious angel named AndyalloTonyM, a beautiful angel who just says "It's Just Around The Farmer." Then a big jeep comes out of nowhere, and kills the angel who likely wasn't alive to begin with. The Grump, Morris, Robin Yount all start crying as AndyAlloTonyM is dead. Next thing you know, they are all friends, and they all start shouting "Yount" in happiness.

I hated Graffiti Bridge so much upon watching it (I was so bored I could barely finish sitting through it. Tick, Tick, Bang was an embarrassing Darling Nikki '90 for one, the storyline made no sense and was so messy, AURA AND HER FUCKING NONSENSICAL POEMS, and Idk. The characters weren't as likeable and relatable this time.. ). Because it didn't answer any loose ends from Purple Rain, I go by the theory that it's loosely based on Purple Rain but not a sequel. It only has like 2/10 of the original characters after all...

.

Anyways, I was watching the trailer for this movie with a friend who had watched Purple Rain (and liked it), and he said it looked like Graffiti Bridge era Prince was the son of Purple Rain Prince and Apollonia eek

.

The facial features of Prince and his type of body, but with the big wavy hair of Apollonia and her pale skin. The more I thought about it, the more sense it made. He really does look like PR era Prince but with Apollonia's hair and skin. Like a "mixed" Prince whose mom was a Latina, whereas in PR he looked straight black (which he is). May be a little off topic, but I had to share because it intrigued me. What if Graffiti Bridge takes place after 1990, some place in the FAR future? Apples and Prince made it big, married, had a mixed son that looked somewhat like both of them named "Graffiti". Then Graffiti's music career sucks so he heads to Minneapolis where his parents started to try and get some inspiration, or a headstart in his career. That's where he meets the annoying Aura (daughter of Jill and Morris...? Ik, I'm going on a bit of a stretch here..) fall in love, blah blah. And did it specify that the "dad" Graffiti was writing letters to was John Nelson? Because what if he was writing letters to Prince the whole time, telling him of his progress in Minneapolis? Of course, it's lame that Morris Day & The Time would be childish enough to compete with someone at least 20 yrs younger than them, but Morris is a huge asshole in both movies so it works lol

.

I only remember from the end that Still Would Stand All Time was played after Aura's death, so Graffiti probably nevre got the happy ending Prince got. If there was a sequel, perhaps it would be on Prince's grandson next?

The Beat Goes On---sequel to Purple Rain

The Kid has been married to Apollonia since 1985,but they are now having marital problems and she tells him that she wants a divorce. The Kid spends his days being depressed, lonely and feeling that there's no hope.He still works on music, but feels that he is now a has-been.

Morris is having similiar problems. His third wife (!) is now planning to divorce him.He also works on music from time to time, but can't seem to find the inspiration to keep it going.

One day,he and The Kid meetup at a bar, start drinking and talking about old times. They realize that their best days are behind them and are feeling really low.A concert promoter walks in,sees them and announces that he wants to put together an old school reunion tour featuring The Kid and his band The Revolution, and Morris and his band,The Time.

At first,The Kid and Morris are against this idea. But then they realize that maybe, just maybe, they could pull it off.It would take their minds off their divorces and also give them a chance to rejuvenate their fading careers.

Alot of interesting things happen on the tour. The Kid falls in love with a tour assistant, but midway through the tour,Apollonia finds him and wants to give their marriage another chance.A few of the Revolution members are still bitter at the Kid,resulting in alot of unresolved tension.

Morris has his own troubles, too. He soon realizes that the crazy rock star lifestyle he enjoyed in the 80s (liquor, lots of women, groupies, wild parties, etc) is harder to maintain when you're now in your 50s,lol.Can he make it through this tour? Can he resist old temptations and habits?

Old friends coming together through music...rejuvenating their lives.....proving that the beat really does go on and on and on....

I wish that Prince really could make a final sequel to Purple Rain.Graffiti Bridge was terrible...do we really want that film to be the last cinematic statement on the Minneapolis sound? lol With a strong, believable storyline and a skilled director, there is no reason why Prince can't make a great movie this time.

It could work...if it went a little like this (as a very short film):

.

.

.

[Fade in. The Revolution's Dressing Room @ First Ave.]

The Kid suddently wakes up after having taken a nap after the blistering performance of 'Baby I'm A Star"....The crowd is still in a frenzy.

"Oh my god", he says. The Kid looks around, unsure of where he's at. Although it wasn't an excessive nap, it felt like an eternity.

The only other persion in the room, Wendy looks at the Kid from the dressing room mirror.

"What's going on? Are you starting to get paranoid again?" she asks, applying more eyeliner as she gets ready to head on out with the rest of The Revolution to celebrate. "You've been asleep for a while, is everything cool?"

The Kid is sweating.

"My god, Wendy, you wouldn't believe it. I had this horrible dream, where Billy died, left the clubs to me, Morris, some woman named Melodie Cool, and George Clinton of all people! And there was this angel-chick named Aura...and it was wild! All the clubs looked fake! Appolonia was nowhere to be seen. And...and...there was this weird kid named Tevin.....what does it all mean?"

Wendy gives the kid a crazy look and responds, "It means you've had a long stressful night and need to forget about that dream. C'mon, Kid, you're better than that."

"You're right," he says, "It was all just a dream. Huh." He smirks at Wendy for a moment and gets up out of his chair.

Both begin to walk out of the dressing room, eager to meet up with Dr. Fink, Lisa and the rest of The Revolution at a nearby eatery. And just as they're leaving, Wendy turns to the Kid and hands him something.

"Hey Kid", she says,"Jerome wanted me to give this to you."

She hands The Kid and envelope. He takes it and looks at her cautiously.

"No, it's not a subpoena." She smiles to him, knowing all his comebacks by now.

He opens it to find two one-way plane tickets.

"Hmm....Nice, France. I could dig it....I could dig it....."

.

[Fade to black]

.

And all is well in the world. biggrin

.

And with that...Graffitti bridge now exists as a dream, and nothing more.

You're welcome!

Sadly, that movie, and future moves like Tony M, and the Gameboyz wearing those Star Trek Next Generation uniforms are all part of a really really horrible run of bad awful decisions for the best musician in pop music history. By far the most brilliant, who made some of the worst decisions ever. smile It would be like if George Lucas decided to have dogs barking and cats meowing for the last 45 minutes of Star Wars after the dramatic great start.
