What about 1999? That gets my vote.

Yeah, that would be mine too if you count it. I always think of it as being the first Revolution album and the beginning of a new phase. But as it stands, I'm gonna go with ATWIAD.

I totally agree with mistermaxxx. 'Purple Rain' is the greatest album ever. I think the people who say 'Parade' have simply listened to 'PR' too much!! The b-sides and other songs from this period ('Love Bizarre', The Time, Vanity 6 etc..) would make his second best album, if complied.

Parade without question.

It is Prince's finest moment, with or without the Revolution.

I think Purple Rain was kind of made for the masses. In other words, it was Prince's own work of art, bu he knew how to market it and "use what he had to get what he wanted" (ie. his own record label, recording studio, etc...)

With ATWIAD, I think he was pretty much using what he had acquired to develop a new sound and try going in a different direction. I liked the album for it's 360 degree turn away from Purple Rain[/i}, but I didn't think it was his best. It didn't matter to Prince if this album sold that much or the public received it because he was working on a much bigger plan...[i]Parade.

With this album, we see him showcase writing skills, production skills, and the likes of different genres from R&B, funk, jazz, and even folk. It was ecclectic, yet modern and to this day has that staying power. I haven't been to a club yet where 21-year-olds don't get on the dancefloor when "Kiss" comes on!

I really don't agree. I don't think 'Purple Rain' was compromised or watered-down at all. He was at one with the world then, so it has a universal appeal; unlike somthing like 'Come' which he has since denounced.

It's a pity he didn't knock off 'I wonder U' and 'Under the cherry moon' and include 'Manic Monday' and 'Nothing compares to u'

I think it should count. The Revolution is credited on the cover of the album, so that makes it a Prince and the Revolution album, right? And I think the band had as much influence on the music on this album as they did on Purple Rain.

Purple Rain: 7 votes
ATWIAD: 3 votes
Parade: 16 votes

NOTE: 1999 is not officially credited as a 'Prince and the Revolution' album. Prince simply acknowleges the name of his band on the sleeve. In that sense, it stands as any other Prince record where he acknowledges the contributions of musicians participating in his sound.

I'm surprised Parade is everyone's favorite Revolution album.
Prince himself has gone on record saying that it's the
one album he's made that he wasn't happy with, and
thought could've been a lot better.

NOTE: Votes are only eligible for officially released albums credited to 'Prince and the Revolution.' Granted, Dream Factory may have surpassed the number of votes for Parade.

Parade is clearly the fan's favourite but is it really a better album than Purple Rain? I beg to differ.
