The Hollywood premiere of The Matrix Reloaded took place today at the Mann Village Theatre and Prince was there.

The celebrity roll-out for the Hollywood premiere not only included his royal purpleness but the cast members including Hugo Weaving, Carrie-Anne Moss, Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne and Nona Gaye.

Others in attendance were Sandra Bullock, Harry Hamlin, Melissa Joan Hart, Ashton Kutcher, Lucy Lui, Tobey Maquire, Tara Reid, Ice Cube, Chris Judd, Will Smith, Tori Spelling, and Daman Wayans.

The Australian premiere of the movie takes place at the Hoyts cinema complex at Fox Studios on May 15 but unlike the Hollywood premiere the Sydney showing looks like being devoid of stars with the exception of Australia's rent-a-crowd soapies. The main stars of the movie including Weaving, Moss, Fishburne and Reeves won't be at the Aussie premiere, even though it takes place at the exact same location the movie was shot.

It appears the stars are too busy spin doctoring the Northern Hemisphere to find time for their own premiere.

Laurence Fishburn told Jay Leno that Prince is a big Matrix fan...(they're tight). Prince tried to get the drop on the sequel from Laurence, but he didn't play. Prince supposedly put Laurence in the nose-bleed seats at his concert as a result...

This is also, perhaps, an indicator as to how comparitively relaxed and less regulated the JW organisation has become. I mean, as little as 5 years ago there would have been recommendations from JWs NOT to go and see The Matrix, because of its content.

There are some pretty ludicrous examples of this from the past - like not being allowed to watch Superman II (not that this was a great burden!) because of the scene where General Zod walks on water (this was perceived as imitating Christ)!!! Or not being allowed to listen to Michael Jackson - the reasons were 2-fold; his demonic connotations in the Thriller video and the fact that he was dis-fellowshipped.

Now, I am fairly certain that the response from a "modern" JW would be that there is no harm in watching a film like The Matrix, as long as it is treated purely as fiction (not fantasy as, again, this has unholy connotations) - but this did not used to be the case.

I'm just interested in just how differently things are perceived these days by the JWs we see on this board.

everyone here knows how much of a matrix geek the brotha is so it's no real surprise, jw or not.
