Thriller bass line straight from 94 East track, check it out Was listening to the album Symbolic Beginning today that I bought years back, check out the bass line in Dance To The Music Of The World (Instrumental), the bass line for this and Thriller are almost identical.
Who knew MJ was a 94 East fan lol

Yeah, except that Dance To The Music Of The World was unreleased until 1986 while Thriller is from 1982 Reportedly, Quincy Jones had admitted that the bassline from Thriller is actually inspired by Rick James' Give It To Me Baby. http://www.youtube.com/wa...dNIQVYGXbM Brian Banks (who played synth on Thriller) also admitted that Jones wanted a strong intro for the song and asked them to take 1999's synth line as an inspiration (that's quite obvious once u know it). I feel like that's one of the more recycled bass lines of the soul-funk genre. It's also the kind of thing they might play during soul revue introductions, warming up the crowd. | |
